Have you ever been in a TDI Bug or Jetta? Smooth as silk. Diesels rock. I hope they do start making diesel hybrids, because they'll get over 100mpg and can burn soybeans.
I recall a famous Japanese inventor who took pictures of all of his meals so he could understand how food affected his creativity. If he had a bad day, he could look back on his eating habits and make changes.
I would also think that if you were on a diet, snapping a pic of every meal might allow you to count calories or carbs or whatever it is you're counting.
Because it uses three strips of film, you actually have more film area with which to record color information. This gives you better dynamic range, which gives you more vivid colors.
It's similar to the way a 3-chip professional TV camera gets better color than a one-chip consumer camera.
Your family shot your home movies in three strip Technicolor?
Are you Cecil B. DeMille III or something?
Seriously, the article is about old movies shot in Technicolor, which used a separate strip of film for each of the primary colors. Aligning those three strips is a pain. For regular 8mm home movies, you can use what's called a telecine. You can get inexpensive ones that attach to a video camera to do it yourself, or there are services that transfer 8mm to video.
Supposing they actually do raise the dough and pay for an entire season.
Who owns those episodes?
Who gets the money from DVD rights? Broadcast rights? Commercials?
More importantly -- who approves the scripts? If I was paying for an entire run of a TV series, I'd at least want to read the scripts. Get a bunch of Star Trek fans involved with a script approval process and you'll have a riot.
Paramount would be wise to just let it die a respectable death.
Bigger platters, bigger motors, the data is spaced further apart on the platters and the bits on the disk take up a larger area, thus using more magnetic particles.
New drives are much more delicate and the data is stored using a lot less area.
I personally have had several 30/40/80GB drives used as archive drives fail on me. All they did was sit on the shelf for 12-18 months without being spun up.
"The "immobilizer" technology used in the keys has been an enormous success. Texas Instruments alone has its chips in an estimated 150 million keys. Replacing the key on newer cars can cost hundreds of dollars, but the technology is credited with greatly reducing auto theft."
I think this is more of a scam to sell expensive keys than anything. I'll take my five dollar key and my chances.
I have a pre-release Dual Opteron/NForce machine from an unnamed manufacturer sitting right here next to my desk. We haven't finished benchmarking, but so far, it's wicked fast.
The real power for video editing will come as PCI Express takes over.
The reason - unlike AGP, the PCI express bus is truly bidirectional, and allows for a whole lot more data to be sent to the card from the application. If you went to Siggraph, you would have already seen vendors ready to take advantage of this added bandwidth. You'll see HDTV editing, 3D Rendering, and many other apps moved to the GPUs of high end graphics cards using PCI express. As to the interface, well, Direct X is a possibility, but a lot of card vendors have an interest in promoting their own standards.

If someone has to rely on a grammar checker in order to write a decent sentence, then something is seriously wrong.
Just make sure they don't get their tentacles on any firearms.
I remember getting vaccinated in the 1960's (yes, I'm that old) and they used some sort of air gun that shot the vaccination through the skin.
That thing HURT!
Because they went out on a Saturday night.
During the week, the Atacama desert is really dead.

Now you tell me.
I wish I had known that in 1976.
Like when you drop a three foot tall stack of them in the computer lab and have to spend several hours putting them back in order?
(true story)
I bet the artists whose files were shared won't see one red cent of these millions.
It will all go to the lawyers and the suits.
Grrrrr....
Download some music while you're there and the lawyers could sue Starbucks.
Talk about a pure profit machine.
...and it proceeded to install those instuments all over the surface of mars.
Spirit and Opportunity have performed incredibly well. These guys deserve nothing but respect.
Mr. Fossett has just set another record for the longest time spent standing in front of a urinal.

...not that it's symbolic or anything.
...unless you're from Redmond, then more is still not enough.
I meant does EBay charge any more money to close an auction that ends at $102.50 than it does to close an auction at $100.01 ?
If not - then the practice is not really benefitting EBay as an organization and you really can't charge them with "price gouging."
That means I can watch 24 in 18.
Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that, if successful, this processor will eclipse the PowerPC on the Mac in the next few years?

Be very careful.
I think you confuse the current government with those in the past who actually cared about creating competition.
George Bush's FTC will approve the merger. Guaranteed.
