I asume you mean Starband. The Satellite router does infact come with an ethernet port. Though it requires a little work to get it exposed and working. Do a Google search on it. You think the engineers designed it to be USB only gayness? Naah. And it shows by the fact that all the parts for ethernet are already installed.

  9. Great in a rat hole on Review Of Netflix DVD Rental Service · · Score: 1

I live in a rat hole in the back waters of Florida (yeah yeah I need to move but I'm still a minor, not up to me). Anyways, I can' find any descent movies locally, and it's a 2 hour drive to any place with a descent selection. The shipping time isn't so bad. I usually get them a day or two before Netflix's ETA. The selection is awesome. Just watched Apocalypse Now Redux and John Carpenter's They Live last night. I rent alot of obscure movies sometimes and some anime (while living in an anime free area). Netflix saves me alot of time and frustration in finding these movies. All and all, I highly recommend it, even if you live on the East Coast:) *mutters something about needing more gigage so he can rip to VCD*

Not quite, gaming has been around long before "The Net". And some people still play games single player often. Like I blew a week to play Deus Ex. The multi-player is horrible but single player is a fantastic story.

  16. Solar power is not solar power on Satellite Phones Making A Comeback? · · Score: 2, Informative

Not quite true. Solar panels don't gather true solar power. They exploit the reaction between light and a compound. That's why those little solar panels in electronic kits will work with a flash light. Thus "solar power" wouldn't be much more abundant in the Sahara then anywhere else.

  17. Harry Potter (Little OT) on You Liked This Movie, Or Else · · Score: 1

Anyone else noticeing how they're aiming Harry Potter to usurp Tolkien's books? This first became obvious to me on the night of "Goblit Of Fire"'s release. I was up lait and ABC was hypeing how great of a book it was. Valuable lessons to be taught to children and how great it was. Best fantasy books of all time. The writer is British. Multiple books that some may deem too long for children. This all sounded very familiar. Now I am positive as they're rushing the Harry Potter movie to roughly the release date of Lord Of The Rings. Sorry, I'm not going to take this corporate endorsed kiddie trash over Tolkien. And personally I wont have my kids reading Harry Potter. They'll get out my dusty old battered copy of Lord Of The Rings. I've read this supposedly great series and it was quite boreing. Only fools would try dethroneing Tolkien.

  18. Not about Windows on Pride Before The Fall · · Score: 1

The post I made originally, and the book discussed by Mr. Katz is not about XXX operateing being better then Windows. It's about Bill Gates the man. Not some piece of software, but a person. If you believe Windows is a bad OS, then use another one. To every man his own, do as you please. But making a bad OS doesn't make a man evil. It's not even the point. So, please, stop discussing how much better Linux or some other OS is, and how much Windows supposedly sucks, but talk about Bill Gates and his company/empire.

  19. Gates Is One Of Us on Pride Before The Fall · · Score: 2

I'm some what ashamed of the stance taken against Bill Gates by my fellow geeks. In case some of you have forgotten, once upon a time Bill Gates was a college drop out. Who could blame him for leaving college? We know how useless education in America is. Especially in the IT field. Learning things on your own is always a better method. He was once a nobody like most of us and rose to be the supposed richest man in America. The richest man bit is questionable. Simply because he is honest enough not to hide all his money in over seas bank accounts. I wouldn't be suprised in the slightest if David Rockefeller had 5 times what Gates has in the bank. Gates is evil you say? How many other corporate mogals donate billions of their cash to charity? Most of them hoard it or use it to make more. You say his OS is crap. It's not designed for the proto-geek. It's designed for the main stream. And if you stop and think, this is what is for the sheep, you'll see it's not half bad. If you want to hack the Linux kernel, more power to you. But the sheep can't handle Linux. This whole anti-Gates stuff is crap. Compare him to other men with corporate empires. They ruin lives for their own amusement. They are a bunch of cut throat ruthless bastards. You know all the people who helped Gates from the start are nearly as rich as he is. You want to know what friends of other leaders of corporations got? Stabbed in the back when it became profitable. Gates is one of us my friends. Don't hate him. That's what they want us to do. Gates has some guts. He basically gave the old boys in the aristocracy the finger. It wasn't exactly a good idea to do so but still, he is against them. He is against this evil corporately owned nation of ours. This man had ideas and passion. And such his empire was founded upon. Not his years attending Yale, Dartmoth, Harvard, or any other worthless Ivy league school. Call this man evil, and you call the typical geek evil.
