    There are some very small cases and mobo combinations around these days. A couple of soundcards and a harddrive full of cds as wavs (hey a 100gig is cheap) and you have yourself a portable mixing setup.


    I have done a dj thing at a small event (party for uni society) with just a PC and a whole load of tracks i ripped for ease or mixing on a pc. Plus with a TV out card card winamp plugins can be projected onto a well

    It depends, a hit in the Pacific ocean would cause some nice flooding and tidal waves. A hit in say China or India could wipe out many hundreds of millions of people compared to say say a few thousdand if it hit say Mongolia.
    My favoutie target would be the moon man that would look awesome for a big explosion facing us

    No ammount of near misses is going to make our political system fund observations into this when they are happy as pie spending billions on missile defence or giant tents if you are from the UK.


    I am sorry to say it but, I beleive that a direct hit it what is needed to force our governments to take action. Hopefully it will be not too big and in an unpopulated area, but statistically we are bound to get wacked at somepoint.

    Yes i think it does. What do most people use their machines for in the office? My lawer writes letters on his laptop. My accountants does spreadsheets. I write reports (ok so i use Lyx for scientific ones)

    A good office suit is important and while Abiword is fast and more than most people use MS Office is a brand name.

    As Richard Feynman said "If it disagress with experiment, no matter who said it, or how elegant it is, if it disagrees with experiment it is wrong."

    While the Higgs Boson and the Higgs field are very compelling and I am certainly not advanced enough in that area of physics to judge Higgs and the other creators of the standard model perhaps there is no Higgs Boson!

    I have no real other way of explaining but a lot of things would be nice if there were a drag for a "mystery field" like the ether of the 19th century, hopefully 21st century physics and mathematics will be able to tell us where this mass and inertia comes from.

    For the past 2 or 3 days I have been unable to send SMS messages from icq to either orange or vodafone mobiles. It gives the reply "was not received by the recipient."

    This is true. It does produce faster code than gcc/g++ does. However I havn't tested Intels free compiler yet (which can also be used in vis studio i think...

    SUSE 7.2 on a 233 laptop with 32 MB ram. Runs fine with Windowmaker as the main GUI.

    Slakware 8 did install on the p133 but it got changed to smoothwall.

    See with teh DC it was simple for people to burn their own games, but the GC uses those wee discs that are harder to find. Now the pioneer machine has its own dvd drive but taking the top off a big N GC will allow playing of cdrs one assumes.


    Still as SOON as one come out in the UK i will buy one to sit beside my DC
