Now when it comes to the techies/geeks/overclockers we will still be able to buy our chips and yeah ok my new bios will say PR1600 but i know that 10.5x133 means it is running at 1400mhz.

It really does of course depend on what you are planning to do with the machine. If you are an average home user then really there is no need for the latest 1.4Ghz amd or 1.8 P4 unless you are the hardest of hard core gamers. I myself still use a dual celeron 550 machin and a p233 laptop for most of my programming work. However there are ALWAYS needs for faster machines for say science uses. If you are running a simulation that takes 3 weeks even a dual cpu (or scale to 32 who knows) will reduce this time but one day you will need a faster machine for the next level.
