The T-Mobile Sidekick\Danger Hiptop has the ability to turn off data roaming, or even the entire radio. Surely this wouldn't be too hard to implement on the iPhone?
Not only that, but dirt precincts can (and, as seen in this documentary, do) throw out the official records so there is no accountability after the fact.
They even had the gaul to toss out official documents while the investigators were in the building!!
It's not necessarily the person that is dangerous.
The meme behind the idea is that if you try to absolutely control every aspect of a citizen's life, in theory, you can control their behavior.
The problem with this law, and many other like it, is the simple fact that those who want to break the law, will do so regardless of what is written on paper (or otherwise hampered).
All you would have to do is hook up some sort of portable pump to the verifier to pump in clean alcohol-fume free air into the reciever. How are they to tell the air comes from you or not? Check moisture content? Get a wet bag. Better still, just crack the system behind it.
Forcing the majority to behave as if they are assumed drunk every waking moment they are in a car will not only backfire against the governing authority, it will set a precedent that it is OK to interfere with every part of our lives for the vague semblance of increased safety. Can something wrong be done with your computer? I guess we should force every single PC to have surveilance measures "just in case".
Did you go to Cherokee High? There were twins that went there named Lemonjello and Orangejello, which was what the mom ate during her pregnancy I think.
I really hope that you are kidding:D. Propane-butane??
One stray static or other shock from the circuitry and *BOOM!*, not only will you be burning a DVD, you will be making your first spontaneous performance of "The Human Torch".
Wow, talk about your self-fulfilling prophecies:D. By simply stating a previous prediction about the post getting +5 funny, the new incarnation achieves just that. I hope the trolls don't find an efficient way to harness this power:P.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that in this case when they say Christian Scientist, they mean a Christian who is also a Scientist.
Christian Science is an actual religion started by Mary Baker Eddy and is based around the idea that there is no need for modern medicine because of the belief that all healing can be accomplished through requested divine intervention. This is in no way related to the idea of a scientist who happens to have a Christian/Creationist perspective in his research.
I think religions who use the word science (i.e. Christian Science, Scientology (well, Scientology is not really a religion, but an evolved pyramid scam Click Here)) in their titles tend to confuse and mislead people. A true scientist does not try to force conclusions on people, but explains his theories in a rational manner that makes sense; this is true for all scientists, no matter what you believe. I myself am a Christian, and if I decided to become a scientist, it wouldn't instantly make me a follower of Mary Baker Eddy; I would just be like any other scientist, except I would be pursuing the answers to the questions of the world from a different perspective--and that's not a bad thing.
I hope this has cleared up things a little. Personally, I believe that living creatures have the ability to adapt and survive in changing environments, but that there also was definitely some sort of intellegent thought that went into creating all of the vastly complex things that dot the marble we roam around today.
On their site, they state their melodies are made of 16 tone pairs, or 'diads'.
"The Magnus-Opus series is based upon pairings of eight notes used to create sixteen different diads or two note chords. These tone pairs are used to create melody 'modules' of a standard twelve note length. Additional compositions may be obtained by joining melodies together, or by adding melody fragments to standard twelve note melodies. "
That is 16^12! A quick calculation shows 16^12 to be 281,474,976,710,656 melodies. It would take centuries to generate and store that many 'melodies'...just to store them would take up thousands of terabytes (unless you specified some sort of range, but that defeats the reason for the 'melody' model).
This sequence when expressed through the operation of a simple algorithmic generator produces some 10,000,000,000 melodies (together with a more or less infinite number of additional compositions produced by the addition of melody modules or fragments thereof).
I'm not even going to go into the math of 'adding modules together'....Geez. Even if they only had a trillion combinations, we still shouldn't be quaking in our boots; phone switching relays still connect to a 'normal' number even if you add other numbers to the end, or dialing a number prefix like '*70'(disable call waiting) before dialing, (ex: "*701-800-DIE-DMCA12425261#*##") and that makes for an original work that I'm sure they don't have copyrighted:P
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the discovery channel do some blurb on a device that utilizes paramagnetism to levitate frogs and make spheres of water hover in the air? There are no ferrous materials in pure water...so perhaps he has just duplicated a paramagnetism generator? Something about the spin of the electrons in certain materials cause them to be paramagnetic (i.e. water), it makes it susceptible to magnetic fields, but much less so than ferromagnetic materials...something to think about.

One of the coolest crashes I can remember is the time I encrypted a.COM file with VOYNICH enrcryption. The odd thing was, the com file still ran...with very odd results; It would spew garbage onto the screen while incessantly beeping and every time it beeped it would print the screen.
I miss that program,:P.

The video quality on that I suspect would be lacking. I have a voodoo 3500 AGP/TV and it only makes 320x240 mpegs at ~30fps. Unless a better way of utilizing the capture card is made (it works great in real-time, even at 1280x1024 from Composite/S-Video, why cant it capture at anything higher than 320x240?:/) I don't see this as a feasible means of reproducible TV-quality playback. The idea is nice however, and with the upcoming videocard technologies, it seems like an eventual possibility, if not inevitability.

Something has to be done about this.
That was a well though-out and written post, but it totally clashes with your sig! ;)
I agree, I'm a pretty conservative driver. I commute down major highways to my work. I get 30-33mpg.
40? Are you sure?
