you can fit a working linux distro on maybe... 4 floppy disks. this is just for base operations, text editing, web browsing, email. which is small for a base system. windows needs at least 60 mb for the same type of bare bones install if you use 98lite.
if he gave the apples for free, he's sharing, end of that discussion. now he goes on to make sure you share what you make with someone else, hell, he didn't even say you couldn't have a piece for yourself, or how big the pieces you gave away had to be, just that you had to share. don't be greedy.
(and while you're at it, try to stop paying tax in That Great Free America and see what happens)
america is free as in freedom, not free as in beer. someone has to pay for stuff. like our police, fire fighters, postal service, all the free shit we can request from the gov't (paid for by taxes, really) all things considered i don't mind paying.
by definition, i believe, an amateur is someone who does something because they love it. a professional does something because he is paid for it. hence, it is his profession. after looking up the definition it appears the amateur does something because he loves it, doesn't take it too seriously and may or may not ever attain the proficiency to do it professionally.
people are going to steal it anyways via a crack so all of the above is moot! and if there is no crack i will try a competitor's product for which a crack is available. and i will fall back upon freeware/open source software rather than give in to hurtful evaluation software.
or just anyone who wants to get into a good game and avoid all the a$$holes on battle.net. i would have given my left nut a few days ago for the bnetd source/binaries so i could have played with a friend who couldn't access battle.net from behind a firewall. a really big thing i think is missing is the ability to just play 1v1s with someone else using an IP address, i mean, wtf? or the ability to host servers over the internet :
hi, i've used linux since slack 3.6. what is a kernel oops? how did you discover this feature? how can i find one? or did you do something obviously wrong and get reprimanded for it?
hrm... i attend a community college and my instructor always points out that we should pay more attention to the logic rather than the syntax of the language. he makes sure to show us how the same things are done in other languages to beat the idea that once we get the logic down we can learn any language. the point is you can't tell how good an education you're getting just based on the fact that it is in a university vs a community college.
but quake requires a finely honed reflex and ability to think very fast... and i play both games q3 and cs. so i do know what i'm talking about. q3 is muh game. cs is what i relax playing.:D

yes, you pay in bandwidth usage. :

no, he's right. by "run" he means "operate" or "administrate". any monkey can run win2k.
i'd probably build it from source.

it is also 2-5 times uglier.
i use mozilla because the image is crisp and clear. i don't think the IE renderer has been updated... well, ever.

pray tell, what advantages does ASP.NET have over PHP? and is it free?
:\
eventually you will develop the ability to read that as 600MB simply because you know there are no 600GB hard drives.

possibly because (speaking for myself) i'm more productive in Linux with things like tab completion, xterms, and perl.
