I'm not some gun wielding nut. I don't feel the need to arm myself whenever I check the mail. But I do know people like that. They are of course people too stupid to keep themselves out of such environments where they MIGHT need it.
It's a good thing you're modded funny at this point. It seems to me that you are more paranoid of people with guns than the people with guns. You also seem to imply that people with guns are somehow defacto incompetent.
I for one have infact carried a gun to work. I did leave it in the car. No need to push my luck. The reason I did is because I work in a town that is notorious for it's lawlessness. Also, at the time, there were some rather unstable individuals working here. One even threatened to shoot up the place. Instead of getting rid of the nut case, they just mothered him along. Since he fell into the big, dumb and stupid catagory a firearm would be the only reasonable means of self defense. I could have used the company issued box cutters, but knife wounds can be so messy.
Also, your AC status would indicate that either you are on the Left coast or in France.

Whatever you do, don't ask an IE to design your cube farm. The ones our IE designed were 9ft X 9ft, intended to have four 4ft X 2.5ft desks centered on each wall with the opening on one corner. This gives you 81 sqr ft, minus 40 sqr ft for the desks, minus 18.75 sqr ft of dead space from the corners, minus the opening of about 9 sqr ft, which leaves 13.25 sqr ft for people to move around in. Fortunately, the cubes were shared across three shifts.

A few years ago, I learned that my mother had been abused by an uncle or someone when she was young. She finally went to a psyciatris/psycologist/whatever. Anyway, they told her she was an over protective parent. It's pretty bad when a proffessional tells you this. Needless to say, from about 12 years until I quit college, I felt like she was always prying into my business. I didn't have a girlfriend or even date until I got out of the house. She actually made me ashamed of being strait. When I was in college, she'd call the dorm to see if I had gotten up to go to class. Occasionally she'd catch me. Sometimes my roommate would answer and say I wasn't there. When he wasn't, I just let it ring. What was she trying to protect my sister and I from? My father. He is/was a drug dealer/addict. It never occured to her that if we saw the conditions he was living in, that would be enough deterant for us not to use. Hell, most of his teeth have fallen out. And since I like to eat, I don't do cocain. But I digress. The damage my parents did to me will take the rest of my life to get over. So, thanks mom for alienating me from the world. Thanks dad for be such a great roll model. And thanks Durham Public Schools for nothin'! OK, I feel better now.
How about a convienent copy of a service contract containing hourly rates and liability clauses for them to sign before performing any work. Wouldn't won't to get into any trouble for doing FREE work now would we?
Could this possibly be applied to that story from the other day about the more something compresses the better the odds it was produced in nature? And would it still be the image of the object, or could the formula expressing it somehow be compressed? I would assume it would already be expressed in it's simplest form. Hell, what do I know? I count boxes.
True that. I read somewhere, possibly here, that there is around a 50% data loss from the eye to the brain. The brain extrapolates the rest. Besides, slide shows from my vision would be cut short by someone yelling FOCUS!!
Can we change some of those to 'Provide access to...' instead of 'will receive...'? Not everyone will need or want the latest and greatest *whatever*. Besides, it could get expensive.
