I've been playing all the games on Windows for Mac for years WITHOUT Windows. The same way I do with Linux. I use Cedega. I get a better framerate, can overclock the games easily and can often customize them to see through walls and other neat things. :)

I still love hearing that old propaganda though about no games. Makes me and the thousands that play Warcraft on their Macs laugh and laugh and laugh.

You'd expect but often (as stated early) those sources are by contributors and maintainers and hence are not from third party sources; the open source community relys on the maintainers and contributors to be the masters of their universe and know the most about their product and so most often, they are the people putting out the books, magazine articles, talking at conferences, etc. So unfortunately they would STILL fail the wikipedia editors deletion manifesto against open source.

Go to a open source conference some time, guess who is speaking about that major open source project? It's a maintainer or a contributor.

Actually scientific publications allows for the work itself as long as it is demonstratable and accepted by the scientific community. Computer science is a bit more difficult as it requires you to show that it is in use. For that you can easily point to Sourceforge usage, Freshmeat usage, subscribers, etc. But again, these are not acceptable nor are forums entries on sourceforge or anything else that shows community involvement.

In effect, should your project be one of the most successful and prominent projects in use on just about every Linux distribution, they would still exclude it. The point being, use is evidence of scientific usefulness.

This does not surprise me that they would be also be deleting other things that show their deletion records as well especially when they are going completely overboard with their deletions.

Read again. Listings are allowed with self references as long as they are well documented. Else many scientific journals, mathematic journals or more would never get a listing. When you consider how many software listings also have publications written by the author of the software or a contributor (COI), that fails their litmus test too. That precludes just about all open source software out there. The wikipedia system allows for scientific exceptions which most wikipedia authors neglect to take into consideration and become overzealous in their attempt to edit.

Some editors of Wikipedia have taken to removing open source project listings from Wikipedia as a result overzealous practices and begun a basic cleansing of open source projects on the basis that they do not have reference materials in books or magazines. I had an argument with several editors when my project in the Sourceforge top 2000 got removed and they claimed they were doing it to all open source projects that didn't have magazine or book publishings by people OTHER than project maintainers.

I use Apple and Linux at Home and Windows and Linux at work and I have to say that Apple (like Pixar) does a great job on polishing under the drawers; they don't do anything halfassed in the total experience. They control the product, the store and the whole experience for a reason... to make them look extremely polished and extremely in control.

Until Microsoft opens their own shops and controls their own hardware OEM, they can't quite duplicate the same experience that Apple has at their stores. They only thing they can do is create propoganda in a controlled environment. And Apple already has retail people and retail sections in Bestbuy locations so these MS people are going to have to compete on their turf; Apple people don't compete with anyone in their stores.
