The correct statement (with proper tenses) is: "Have we been able to find Bin Laden? Not yet.".
In other news, we have not yet been able to prove the current cold fusion devices work. We also have "not yet" completely drained our new filling station of oil, but we have pumped it pretty well for propaganda value.

Why does palm insist on using a lower capacity, less adaptable expansion slot?
Seriously, compact flash is cheaper for memory:

    SD costs 232 USD for 512 MB - http://www.pricewatch.com/1/226/5642-1.htm

    CF costs 96 USD for 512 MB - http://www.pricewatch.com/1/226/4003-1.htm

1 Gigabyte is only available in CF, and the SD/ MMC format can only be used for memory whereas CF can do almost anything PCMCIA can. Is the space saved really that important? Or could the unit not afford the slight extra power drain? Why does palm insist on the clearly inferior expansion slot?

First of all, remember when Social Security started? There was a little provision in a little section of the code, which everyone seems to "forget."

It is illeagal to use one's SSN for identifacation purposes outside of authorized fedral goverment activities.

There I said it. Don't all stand up and agree at once. The fact ofthe matter is everyone uses it for ID, this is an improper use, and no one does anything about it. "But we need an universal ID " you say. Why, is it nessicarry to be tracked in a unified way through all aspects of life?

"Well it shouldn't matter if you have nothing to hide." If one does or doesn't have something to hide is not the real issue. What ever happened to trust someone until you have reason not to? A system like the one inplace now is "volentary" but not participating is contrived as de facto admission of guilt. This is wholely unacceptable.

So, SSNs have become guarded by most people, they only give them to who they chose and for a damn good reason. '"Big Brother", who I am convienced is no more than a few power hungry men in the bussiness world pressures goverment to make a universal ID that people have no choice but to make very public weather they like it or not. Yes, let's take an SSN leke number and make it your phone number, email, fax, shirt size, driver's ID and goddamn NAME if we can.

Think of the market research we can get on people it will be great! Finally, everyone will have a easily found number in our database!

This is all they are thinking, this has no real value to the average citizen of the US, EU or the earth as a whole, let's just make ourselves a little more trackable.

I know that I want to be completely revealed to everyone with my phone number. Now that's a great idea!

But what if say, there was a mix up, and something made it's way on to your credit report (That shouldn't be there) as it often does. Every sales person you talk to could remind you to pay bill X thor the rest of your life.

Now let's say this truely does become a large scale comercial cooperative network. Call me Mr Burgler, ok I'm thinking what rich guys aren't home right now and far away from their home. Bingo, this whole family is 2 hours awy from thier home! I can go on a little shopping trip of my own! Talk about casing a place, this would make it dreamy. You really think you would be able to hide from anyone? Jury Duty, Balif, go pick up juror X from location Y. Warents, hits, anyone, anytime for ANY REASON could find you.

But I pay my bills on time, I don't have anything to hide. I'll sacrifice a little privacy for a little service. Why not? Thought so.

May I just say, one private bookstore maintaining their own database of shoplifters shutting down is no doubt a victory for the privacy cause; it is a small victory. What if say, Borders got togeather and shared the system and database with, say, B&N. And they, in turn, shared with say another chain, say Walmart.

Well, it quickly becomes apparant where I'm going with this, you would have a very large database with lots of camaras that would be able to identify someone very quickly almost anywhere. Now, lets say some of these camaras are mouted by checkouts, they can place a face, to a name, and address, and credit card, and from there they have a full profile on you.

Applications: Hmm, who in my store right now is know for not paying off thier bills, who here talks a long time and doesn't buy anything? I won't help them. Who here is a real sucker for a sale and will buy whatever I tell him to? What does this guy want/ need / like / already have? Well, I won't serve person A and I'll give the slick Willy approch to person B.

Now let's say an institution already had lots of cameras set up to do this very thing, and they were already in the intial phases of it. That would be a very down right terrifing thought. Well, don't look now but it is, the British Government and many many other institutions.
What additional technology does my fear take to impliment? None.

Do you trust the governments of the world not to share this information or use it properly for your good? Neither do I.

There is only one solution, the cameras and system must be disabled. Each and every single last one of them. Write anyone who will listen, do your part, get them down before Jim and Borders that you've never walked into before says "Hello, Mr. Nobody, Good to see you today, may I show you the new copy of Wired and the new Playboy that you buy every month?"

Hmm, let's see what we have here. It seem to me like someone wants to start up the 'ole OS wars again. Let's just point out a few of the merits of YDL 2.0:

Fact: Not everyone likes BSD, some people just prefer Linux.

Fact: Another OS for the PowerPC Arcitecture is a great thing to se released and updated, if x86 has no compitition what makes it improve?

Fact: OS 10 and 10.1 have hefty sytem requirements that some computers just don't meet, I can still use YDL on my old 603e chip which is somewhat old school.

So, basically, this keeps everyone on their toes, the Linux people now havew to give the mac a serious look before dismissing it simply because it's am mac. The mac people have the option of using Linux in adition to every other OS on the mac. And Apple has to keep OS X development going strong becuase they don't have an OS monopoly on their systems. And all those people with macs can upgrade to the latest version of YDL, we just can't use off the shelf linux you know, silly single architechure kernal.
