hahahah... what an idiot. you bought a dell. best of luck getting hold of some brainless Indian who will get you to rip out your RAM, reboot your computer a bunch of times, then tell you it's a software problem and you should reinstall Windows.

I'd like to know how an output device slows down an input device. That's some pretty high level trickery.

But I can see why you contacted /. before contacting Dell tech support.

After all that's been said and done, even if the Phantom DOES eventuate and some games DO start to come out, there is no way in hell I would consider getting one. The company just seems too flaky and dishonest.

Are you going to give them your credit card details?

Are you going to pay for a one year subscription in advance only to have the realise their folly 3 months through and close up shop?

For the record, I buy pretty much every game console that comes out, regardless of how much the company suck. Yes, I even have an Xbox and I thoroughly enjoy it.

What makes good sex good is its exclusive and secret nature.

This is something which I personally find distasteful. Not from the perspective of wanting to see others doing it, but because secrecy allows those in a position of power to take advantage of it. This can lead to rape, even in a marital situation, but even if it's just discomfort, secrecy does not allow the uncomfortable party the freedom to discuss it with friends and family because they will feel they are breaking the sanctity and secrecy of sex.

This is very, very dangerous and is still very common among churches and followers.

If, as society, we force people to keep quiet about these sort of things, then we will also silence those who genuinely need help.

An open and honest society is safer for everyone.

Then I thought it was just people who are kidding themselves. I still haven't managed to get past this one.

My mac has a 5 button mouse + scroll wheel. The scroll wheel is my life. My only computer which doesn't have a scroll wheel is my Sparc at work and I'm forever finding myself scrolling my finger to no avail.

and no, I don't use my mac for serious cad or 3d work. just web surfing, writing, and looking at pr0n.

I like my computer - mouse included to be FUNCTIONAL, before it's elegant.

I just wish I could permanently and completely switch off this "feature" of
X11, in all programs. I'm not stupid, I've been using X11 nearly daily since
1990, and I've been screwing it up since then.

If not being able to adapt to something you've been using nearly DAILY for 14 years doesn't make you stupid, I don't know what does.

Maybe it's time you bought a mac again. they really are wonderful - UNIX without having to suffer X's quirks.
