Off topic here, but what the hell happened to Motorola?

I remember them heading up the mountain in the early 90's... Atari STs, Amigas, Macs... seemed they had the golden touch.

I remember learning 68000 assembly... (still my favorite ASM) on my amiga, and loving the simple structure of the chip (although I know this helped with it's downfall... no MMU).

Anyways, now what do they do? Cel phone chips?

Probably a lucrative market, yes, but why didn't they keep going with their desktop processors? Bad management? Seems a shame really.

No, out here basically having cable TV means you're paying the cable company to send you a signal. The networks are the ones who put the ads in. (Although I am pissed about having ads in my digital cable listings)

    >> Shouldn't I be able to use my TiVo without its own advertising? I paid $600 for the box plus service.

Yes, I can't believe people would let them get away with this instead of putting their backs up. Tivo is only getting away with it because people don't think they can do without them... this is abusing their clientelle.

Shouldn't I be able to enjoy my sporting event without all those billboards? I paid $40 for a ticket.

When you're at a sporting event, you're off your own property*, and any time you're not in your own space, you have to deal with whatever they want to throw at you. I do however, hate what this world is becoming... with ads everywhere.

Although I do think the reason some things break with point released of OSX is because they API's weren't fully decided on in earlier releases. I think it sucks having to upgrade (and pay dearly for it) if you have OSX.1 and want to run the latest software on it.

Apple pisses me off yet again by the fact they're too cheap to put fullscreen media player in it (you have to upgrade to Quicktime Pro).
