Hey, may be we shouldn't have computers connected to internet, because you know "Hackers"!!!
Seriously, what's with all this paranoia? Yes, mobile OS vendors have probably been lax until now, and once vulnerabilities are found, they will clean up their act, or they will be overthrown in the market by someone who does a better job. Windows used to suck, but now it's much better. I'm sure Android will get there too. That does not mean, we can give them a pass for security vulnerabilities. We should absolutely hold them accountable and publicize the issue so that they know that's not acceptable.
That statement has not been true for more than a year now. Not with the number of vulnerabilities found in various open source libraries as well as OS X specific vulnerabilities.
I'm glad for you. I tried Amazon Fire TV stick and it sucks pretty bad - making me suspicious of Amazon's competence at software. Didn't even try Echo.
That is only if you want to get on the treadmill of Wall Street. One can conceivably run a small company without trying to squeeze every last dollar possible, and earning customer good will.
Well, it may not be killing, but Chinese government harassed followers of a religion/cult Falun Gong because they had a different faith! How is it different from killing for religion?
I'm not sure if that's a genuine page or just setup to satisfy some regulatory requirement. I am on AT&T cellular and not connected to Wifi, but it still keeps giving me bs that I'm connected to Wifi, and asks me to disconnect and refresh.
Look at the hypocrisy in this thread. Everybody is outraged that MS is moving jobs outside the country, while making their profits there! So you need the rest of the world to pay you but they shouldn't get anything back? And you guys go preaching the world about how to live! Fucking hypocrites!
It doesn't hurt iPhone sales, at least not by much. People will adapt to it - by putting a hard case or whatever else required. You must remember that more than half of iPhone buyers are not buying because they objectively evaluated it and judged it to be the best phone they can have. They buy it because it is THE thing to have. So what if it has problems, as long as there is a solution (may be even better if Apple makes an expensive, really expensive) case, it will become even more aspirational. "I'm soo rich I can afford not just the phone, but also this case"!
Slashdot's system works because there is not much at stake here apart from people's egos or opinions. If businesses depended on comments on slashdot, I think we'd find way more trolls and mod points for sale. The problem would be in a different league altogether.
They don't need to take on Intel and x86. They just need to make a profit on each system sold.
You do realize that these things are not like a boutique where each unit is independent, right? They have to sell x million to break even and more millions to make decent profits out of that.
And, even then they still have to compete with Intel & x86, to keep those sales from drying up, so they can keep the business alive for the next year and the year after...
For me, their spam filtering has gone to shit. What used to be an occasional miss earlier is a regular feature now. It's almost like I have to go through two folders (Inbox and Spam) and keep shuffling things around. I'm not saying error rate is 50%, but I am not able to trust Yahoo! not to send some important mail to spam folder!
This! A 1000 times this! It seems the "modern" way is to cripple expression and power so that everybody is equally handicapped. That's just fucking stupid to cripple your best (coders) because your worst can't keep up!
I did RTFA and found this gem: "the iOS version of the RCS Trojans hits only jailbroken devices". Also “Once the sample is ready, the attacker delivers it to the mobile device of the victim. Some of the known infection vectors include spearphishing via social engineering – often coupled with exploits, including zero-days; and local infections via USB cables while synchronizing mobile devices,”
So, ya, while this is bad, it is not in the same league as what NSA's surveillance of everyone and everything is.
For all the exaggerated scary words used like "one of the largest", "more than 60 campaigns" etc, there was not a single solid data point about the actual devices infected. Not even a ball park number - like whether it is tens, thousands or millions of devices. Makes me suspect the claims.

Now, I will get off your lawn.
OSX is safer

Oh, and UK is still rolling in wealth and riches it stole from India.
No. He works for a VC firm. But to know that, you'd have to RTFA!

Great now, tell me how do I do the same with some other binary log file!
I have a picture that my friend sent me through Whatsapp and I would like to share it through Gmail. Pray tell me how that "works" on iOS?

I am from India. And you don't know shit if you say US has the most...... any kind of people!
I agree with your logic of all kinds of people etc though.

So just because someone doesn't have a solution, they shouldn't attempt to raise awareness about a problem? I bet you're a manager.
But why is it mm (or is it MM)? why not just M?
I got a good deal on a bridge for you. It's between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
They are not interested. They already built a bridge between Mountain View and Cupertino!

Of course, they shouldn't send work to any other countries. It's not like they're selling their products in other countries, are they?

A bunch of jerks eliminating themselves from the common pool.

No, I checked. All the nukes in my grandma's basement are legal!
