Street racing has been around since cars were invented. Illegal street racing has been around since people got tired of kids dying and damaging property and passed laws forbidding it.
The most amusing one I know of is in the Seattle area where one of the cities has posted signs saying that street racing is illegal between 10PM and 5AM. Apparently its legal to do during the day, just not at night.
Not really. Once your monthly activation expires, the Replay will refuse to aloow you to do anything. No watching TV, no recording programs. All you can do is access the settings menu.
I know. I bought my ReplayTV as an open box, and someone had already used the free trial period. I could do nothing with it until I contacted SonicBlue and started my subscription.
So, even though you have one of the new 4000 series Replays, don't expect it to continue working if the service stops.
If you want to rename the PDF file, you can write an AppleScript which prompts you for a name (and possibly a location) to put the file.
I have written an AppleScript which saves the current page into my ~/Documents/Recipts folder. One of the things it does is prompt you to name the PDF before it is saved into the receipts folder.
on open these_items
repeat with i from 1 to the count of these_items
set this_file to item i of these_items
set new_name to ""
display dialog "Enter Name for this Receipt:" default answer the new_name buttons {"Cancel", "OK"} default button 2
copy the result as list to {new_name, button_pressed}
if button_pressed is not "Cancel" then
do shell script "cp " & quoted form of POSIX path of this_file & " ~/Documents/Receipts/" & quoted form of new_name & ".pdf"
beep
end if
end repeat end open
Be sure to check out the Star Wars: Second Strike site. They put together a radio drama using a cast from all over the world. MP3s are available for download.
But why does everything on Slashdot have to GNU/GPL/Open Source? If it were, there would be nothing about Apple, nothing about Microsoft, and nothing about any other commercial software. In that case, I would have even less reason to read Slashdot.
Slashdot is supposed to be about "News For Nerds". I find this article to be intriguing. Am I going to download the software? Probably not. But that doesn't mean I don't want to know about it.
I used to work for a company that did warranty repair for HP. I went in to many offices to repair LJIII's. And the most frequent comment I'd get from the secretary was "This is the first time we've ever had to have it fixed". And usually I was fixing something simple like a worn pickup roller, or a blown fuser.
I would love to have one, but I wouldn't have any room in my house to put it. Besides, they're so old, they don't have USB ports for my Mac.:-)
Not all of the Palms have this style cradle. The older palms had a simple drop in cradle which did nothing to lock them in. I know, I've knocked my Palm out of the cradle while it was syncing before.
The new palms (at least the m130 and m550) *do* lock into the cradle. They slide straight in and metal locking clips hook on to them. In order to get them out, you have to pull it forward to release the locking clips, then pull it out of the cradle.
Using this mod on one of the new Palms would be difficult, if not impossible.
At first this kind of publicity doesn't hurt you but as the number of pissed off ex-customers grow it can have a real affect on the bottom line. Hence AOL probably doesn't get a lot of repeat customers.
I don't know about that. Everytime I move, I sign up for a free month of AOL while I wait for the DSL to be installed. Once it's in, I call AOL and cancel. So, I'm a repeat customer.:-)
And for those interested, my "excuse" for cancelling the service is that there's nothing on AOL that I use, so why pay for it.
I never said I wouldn't want people to be able to say get well. I've been around the 'Net long enough to know that rumors are a dime a dozen. How many times did the "Alex Guiness is dead" story circulate?
My point was that if Slashdot wants to post notices about such things, I would feel far more comfortable with them posting stories based on *fact*, not rumor.
Is it such a slow news day that the Slashdot editors see fit to post *rumors* on the front page? They even state that it is a rumor. If it's a fact, then fine, post it since many Slashdot members think its important. But there is no need to engage in baseless rumor mongering.
I know. But for those people who haven't finished transitioning all there e-mail away from Yahoo, it's useful to know how to turn it back on, even if it is only for another couple of weeks.
Once the service goes pay-only, I'm done with the email account anyway
I never implied that this was new. I just assumed that others, like me, went down the list saying No to all of the options, including Yahoo! Delivers. This is why I said to turn it "back on".
I found that my POP access was disabled after resetting the marketing preferences.
To reenable it, you need to go back and turn the Yahoo Delivers! option back on. POP Access/Forwarding require you to agree to this. Once that is done, you should be able to go back into your mail settings and check your settings.
Once I did this, it gave the options for POP/Forwarding access.
It would seem that you would be better off going w/the basement.

Apple has made a statement...

Apple has already made a statement regarding XPlay. When this software was first introduced way back at the beginning of the beta cycle, they were calling it XPod. Apple sent them a letter regarding the name, and the changed it to XPlay. Apple hasn't said anything else, so I would assume they are find with it.
Thanks for the worthless reply, but I've already done that. I am smart enough to ask Google before I ask Slashdot. After all, Google gives more accurate answers. (As evidenced by this inane reply.)
I have a related Question. I have the need to not only send packets with specific IP headers, I need to generate these headers by rewriting incoming packets.
But, you are ignoring the fact that Mac OX X itself supports dual processors and will distribute processes and threads between the two processors. Thus, it will run faster than just a single processors system.
Now, whether the SPEC benchmarks would reflect that is another question entirely. Not knowing anything about how they are written, I can't make any predictions. However, if they are simply single-threaded tests, then, no, they won't show much of an improvement on the dual systems.

Sorry, try again. Both the 10D and the 300D have the exact same 1.6x multiplier.
Hmm.. Would that be because Slashdotters have no chances with women? Or because Slashdotters aren't geniuses?
Is there another Central London we didn't know about?
Well, there is Londa, Ontario, Canada. I'm sure there is a Central part there too.

And what evidence do you have to back up this claim? I'm sure if it were that simple, the folks ovet at MacSlash would have caught it farily quickly.
I would love to see the NSI whois page showing this to be the case.

Not hardly. Been around Slashdot for over a year. I just don't post unless I have something meaningful to add.

Maybe you should grab a free website on Yahoo or something and post it there. I'm sure they would love to deal with the slashdot effect.

Where can I find information on such a task?
