I've played DDR for a long time, and from the sounds of things, the only thing this guy endured while playing DDR is boredom. He didn't play any especially fast or difficult songs, so basically all he did was move his feet every 3 or 4 beats to another pad. Which is incredibly boring yes, but not an endurance record by my standards.
Now if he played Max 300 at 9 Feet for 37 1/2 hours without missing a step, then his feat would be worthy of a record. But all this shows me is he's some loser with too much time on his hands and a low enough mental capacity to withstand the utter boredom endured by playing the really slow songs on DDR.
Hell, if I wanted to, I could play "Have you Ever been mellow", while programming on a computer, or reading slashdot. These songs are stupid easy for anyone who knows the least bit about music. (1...2...3...step...1...2...3...step)
Will the source be released? If so, this could be fun to play with to create great games for Linux. Games like Postal 3 (for linux!), Grand Theft Auto 4 (for linux!), you know those great anti-establishment games that we all love to play.:-)
or a third party, which has been ingrained into their psyche is basically throwing away a vote.
The American public doesn't vote, because it doesn't feel it has any options. It doesn't want to vote for the two major parties, and was taught that voting for anyone else is just a waste of time.
As soon as that false belief is worn out of the American public, you will see more voting.
Well, I think the best line I heard about the democrats recently was:
"The only problem with democrats is that they agree too much, and they don't hate. They will calmly listen to what you have to say, and then at the end go 'that's a good point'."
It's a very interesting point. Basically saying that democrats are fence sitters... Fence sitters are very easily bought.
Well, actually socialist isn't exactly the right word for it. There is a term being kicked around in polisci and economics circles called corporatist, and I think that's a better description of the government in the states right now more than anything. Socialist implies that they support the general populous and are doing things to better their lives, when in reality in the states they are supporting large corporates, at all costs. Thus, you lose a lot of the gain that you'd get from a socialist economy.
Thus, in a kinda shitty way, you get the worst of both worlds. You end up with corporate monopolies, but a lack of rights due to strigent government regulation. Surprisingly similar to Fascism.
Actually, to get around the healthcare problem, you can resolve it by just adding another layer to the formula. The government doesn't take over healthcare, but rather takes over health insurance, and thus avoids the obvious prisoner's dilemma that naturally jacks up health insurance costs and doctors prices. If rather than handling the doctor's themselves, but rather handling insurance and saying we'll pay this much for these operations, and making it illegal for any other insurance company to pay for those essential services. This means that "non-essential" medical services can charge whatever they want, but general services will be reasonably priced, and the citizenry will all be able to access this. Thus leading to a healthier population, and avoidance of the prisoner dilemma between doctors and insurance companies where doctors place whatever price they want (which will naturally be the highest an insurance company will pay), and then the other insurance companies all have to offer that service at that price, and then the doctor again will up the price, etc. leading to a natural race to the bottom.
Now, I am not saying that everything should be handling 100% by a federal medicare program, that would be crazy, but if you put only the essential services as that, and then let the population buy insurance for other services you acheive the best of both worlds. You gain free market expansion while you maintain a minimum level of healthcare for the general population.
Setting up some bullshit bot to make as much money as possible in one game, and then just trading it for US dollars?
Like, if there are no prevention on that, then that's what I am going to do, but some stupid Sims Online bot that just makes sure my character stays alive and leave the program running in the background. If I can earn more money than I pay in subscription fees in a month, it's basically free income.
Obviously there has to be some serious restrictions.
Why not make a very small change to the system. This way people can still write eachother for free, but spammers get screwed.
We can all acknowledge that spammers cost us for each e-mail they send. So why not adjust the system so that if someone e-mails you, you have the right to charge them some miniscule amount for each e-mail you receive. Thus, if a friend e-mails you, they won't get charged, but if a spammer e-mails you, you can charge him 1-3 cents per e-mail you receive. Basically adjust the system somehow so that when an e-mail is sent, it is possible to charge the sender of that e-mail.
It's not perfect, but it sure as hell is better than charging everyone, or even worse letting spammers have free reign.
That cat tracker idea is a great idea, and wouldn't be hard to build. (I have lots of friends who own cats and complain about similiar problems.) The problem is though, if I make it, will I be forced to pay Scott Adams any type of royalties for giving me the idea, or can I decide to donate whatever percentage to him on my own?
I know you are a troll, but in case some people on slashdot are idiots, I'm going to go through your post and rip it to shreds.
Every single REPUTABLE, unbiased study has had Windows end up with a far lower TCO then linux.
Using a qualifier as "reputable", without specifically defining it basically makes your statement meaningless because it defines the "acceptable" studies as whatever ones agree with your topic. I could easily give many reputable studies which show the opposite, and I am certain you could easily claim bias, because unfortunately part of critiques is the fact that the tester is biased towards the better product.
And that is even BEFORE adding in the ineveitable and potentially HUGE legal costs that are going to come the way of anyone who is stupid enough to use linux for their mission critical apps, not just from SCO, but from a whole host of companies whose copyrighted code has been massivley stolen and hoovered up en masse into the linux code base.
Yes, because there are so many lawsuits against users of Linux (look at lawsuits directed at IBM for a relative estimate.) Whoa, there's only one, and it's from SCO, and has shown thus far to be just a golden parachute scheme by owners trying to eek a bit more money out of their company while they can. There are _NO_ other lawsuits against users of Linux.
The American hating German Nazis and losers at Munich
Incredible sign of bias, and bad grammar. (The proper form would be The American-hating German Nazis.) Either way though, this statement is just a sign of ignorance and brings down your argument further. (Did your company lose a contract to Linux in Germany?)
basically screwed German taxpayers big time by opting for a far more expensive SuSe linux solution out of pure spite and to prop up a failing German softeware company (Suse).
Okay, this is completely wrong. Suse is a German company, so basically they helped out their economy by keeping the taxpayers money in the country. Just as you, an American want to keep money in the American economy, view arguments later for clarification.
Meanwhile we doing our best to organise true American patriots to BOYCOTT all overpriced third rate produicts like the overpriced, always breaking down Mercedes cars.
Continuing on, you say that Germany cannot purchase their own products, because that makes them nazis, but then you state that Americans should only buy American products... can we say double standard? As well, Mercedes are only one brand of car coming from Germany, there is also BMW, and an American favorite Daimler Chrysler (Daimler is a German company.) Yet, I can also say that Mercedes generally last longer than some American companies as well (read FORD.)
Lets pay the American hating German clowns in their own coin!
As well, let's pay the German hating Americans(British?) in their own coin. (whatever that may mean.) It's funny that you hate them so much and yet are completely blind to the fact that you are the same thing.
As for Newham, having lived in Plastow (close to Newham coucil in Stratford) for over 5 years, one thing I know for sure is Newham taxpayers are not going to sit idly by and watch their tax pounds wasted on a more expensive, harder to use , problem infested linux "solution" just to please a few loony left , anti-American fanatics.
But they may be interested in saving money for more important services by switching to a better Linux solution, or a cheaper non-MS solution. Many large governments run on non-MS solutions, save incredible amounts of money, and still do successfully.
Tony Blair is still busy rooting out the left wing crazies from the Labour Party!
So you are saying that Tony Blair is trying to convert the Labour Party (Which is a leftist party) into the Conservatives? Why doesn't he just switch parties?
Newaiz, I think you need to back off on the coffee, have a nice pint, and relax. Hopefully things will seem clearer after a pint or two. ^_^
The simple solution is not to continue to use cars, but to use intracity transport pods. (basically cars that run on tracks within a city.) It is currently being tested in Europe and it works amazingly well, and unlike roads, it is uses electricity (produced from hydro in le Pays-bas, you don't mix in people you can't drive into the service (Which is pretty severe). There is no need for traffic lights, etc, since the service is properly designed to handle that from teh start. It can go considerably faster (for a ton of reasons.)
Or we can decide to stay with archaic cars and tar roads and continue to support the oil industry more. That seems tobe the American way newaiz.
Explain this verisign. An important site I use for business was doing fine, and even reregistered it's website domain recently, and yet when it expired, your bullshit service decided to post it's DNS as the proper place to go for that domain instantly. EVEN THOUGH THE SITE WAS ALREADY PAID FOR. Essentially you Highjacked their domain, and made it impossible for me to do business (over the internet) with them for 3 days straight.
You claim there are no problems? HAH. There are so many holes and bugs in your services, I am surprised you aren't fighting down legions of class lawsuits.
Perhaps they are missing the point.

Praying Doesn't Help
·
· Score: 4, Insightful
Being a somewhat slacking Roman Catholic, I look at the people who pray for various things, (especially other people's health), and I've realized that while I have no idea whether the prayer helps the person prayed for or not, it does definitely help the person praying. Sometimes people feel helpless, like there is nothing they can do when someone they love is dying, and prayer gives them some hope that they are doing something to help out.
As well, prayer research studies are hard to rate because there will always be questions of faith of those in the study, whether connectedness is important, and what the one "true faith" is. All of which will alway make is easy to discount/support any conclusions.
Personally, I take prayer from a very sociological and psychological viewpoint. It provides some form of hope to people who feel otherwise helpless. It gives them the opportunity to feel that they can do something, anything to change what they feel needs to be changed.
Whether it works or not, in the end, is irrelevant.
This company has a proven track record of bad security, unethical behaviour, and well.. I just don't get it, they are the main "TTP" of the web, and yet aren't worth anyone's trust really, then a Domain controller that abused it's power as such, and now they are going to run elections for Americans...
*/me shakes head in total astonishment*
Well... G'luck to ya guys. Here's hoping for once they'll maintain their ethics. (Or assign the project to Dilbert (for those who've seen that episode of Dilbert TV.;-) ))
I know this is out of character for a Canadian, but I do have to say I have a soft spot for the Canadian Arrow project. http://www.canadianarrow.com
I have been following it closely, and all of their tests have been reasonably successful, they have their astronaut team now, and they are almost done training. They've finished engine testing, and are even preparing for secondary business ventures when the project is complete (read "spacediving" on their page.)
So currently now, I am just waiting for them to do their launch (which if I remember correctly from the latest clip of them on "Daily Planet" they were saying was going to be early to mid 2004, barring no complications.
The Da Vinci project looks good as well, but I just haven't paid that much attention to it.
Oh well, no matter what happens, hopefully this will get the publics attention, and these companies will continue development further into even more spaceworthy vehicles (ie orbital, etc.) with the money they make from tourism (Assuming they make money. ^_^)
Something few people have considered though with the compilation.
To verify that the code provided is the same as that used in the OS, Microsoft will have to compile with the same compilers that they use. Which afaik are their proprietary compilers.
Now, all MS has to do is make the compiler "add" a file or two to the compilation, and then they don't have to show China or whoever all of the code, they can convieniently remove some files, and just say, "you have to use our compiler to get matching results."
Isn't that cute, eh? So then, if they desire, they can still hide all they want, and only show you what they want to show you, and no one is the wiser. Well, that is unless you also get the source for the compiler.:-)
Actually, relativism is the belief that every person can believe their own beliefs and not be wrong. Since everything is relative.
Now... religion, or at least the mainstream ones, have nothing to do with that.
Christianity = Love thy neighbour... even though you know deep down he is completely wrong and going to rot in hell.
Islam = Love thy neighbout... until he threatens your beliefs in the least way, then beat the living shit out of him with any method possible.
Judaism = Love thy neighbour... as long as they follow the same faith as you. Otherwise just accept that they are there, and eventually will die out while judaism will not.
Western religions are far from relative. They all believe that they are totally right and there is no chance anyone else can be. But that's just my personal view.
Well, I am waiting for them to sue someone who really matters, like Bush or his daughters, or heck even the Pope would be entertaining
You know, someone with a billion dollars to fight back. If they are truly doing blind suing they should hit one of those sooner or later, and if they don't, that says something about this "blind suing" that they claim to be doing.
Well, you have the million monkey effect. The thing about Linux over Windows is that if a major bug is found, there are a hundreds of quality programmers ready to fix and able to fix it very quickly. Anyone who wants to fix the bug is allowed to.
So you end up with, sure if bugs are found for Linux, they'll probably get fixed faster, and from past experience with Linux and bugs this is very very true.
I've played DDR for a long time, and from the sounds of things, the only thing this guy endured while playing DDR is boredom. I speak enough french that when I read correspondence and the person used the word e-mail, I always had to laugh.
:-)
émail in french means enamel, and I don't know why I just always found my mind translating e-mail to enamel rather than e-mail.
