Why am i not allowed to change the owner of system files? Ok maybe its not a smart idea, but i am a Unix sysadmin, i dont need anyone to think for me....
Why should SUN move out of GNOME, because it is in danger to be infestet with.NET? Its only logical that they move more into GNOME to have a good position in the project.
Unfortunately you cant run GUI apps from the Terminal in OS X as you can run X11 clients on another unixish system. Ok, maybe it is possible, but not in the simple was.
What impressed me, was that the update was instantly availible in the german language version also. I (Mac user since two weeks) expected to have to wait at least a few days.
Does apple always release all language versions at the same time? Would be nice.
BTW: hasnt anybody sayed recently that Star Wars Episode II will premire in europe on the same day as in US. Do i see the trend here that US companies stop treating ther non US customers as second class people, or is it just apple.
Not exactly, a filesystem in the linux kernel can be changed rather quickly, the kernel does not need ext2 too boot from it, you can run the kernel from whatever you want, as long as there is a bootloader that supports it. Take loog at loadlin or yaboot.....
And for what is talked about here ther is a linux fs for, its called XFS.
Stability is something else, its sayed that (Open|Free|Net)BSD or Solaris are more stable than linux, i cant say anything about that.
An intresting thing is SGI, theyre quite intrested in Linux for their HUGE boxen, maybe they will realease a special certified kernel wich is stable on this machinene type.
Maybe its really easier to build a kernel for a machine you built yourself and wich exists only in a few varieties like SGI or SUN can do (Solaris for x86 doesnt support a lot of hardware, so the BeOS policy - we support only good hardware)
- Jeff Hartmann: upgrade DRM to XF86 4.1.x, drop support for 4.0.x
What does this mean? Is there no more support for XFree 4.0.x, do i HAVE to upgrade xfree to if i want to continue using DRM?
I am confused.

Well, thats a bug, isnt it?

and the magnetic pole is can drift northwards to the real geographic north pole.
And concerning climate the magnetic field is not important (only a bit maybe because it affects how solar winds hit earth).
The axis of the Earth goes thrue the geographic pole.

PS: I wasnt really sure if youre post is irony or not, but i wanted to make this clear

So, this is only possible with windows right now.
