And people will still think there's something wrong with this food, that they're somehow splicing jellyfish genes into it or something stupid like that. It makes me so mad when talking to misinformed people who get into these campaigns to ban GM food when all the food you eat is pretty much been GM'd through several thousand years of selective breeding

I dont think you'll see this forming organs anytime in the near future, The tech behind this is only for the formation of simple kinds of life, and changing that into something that produces human cells could take ~4.5 billion years, at least outside the lab. But in reality the best chance for organ transplants is stem cell research, but we know how much the religion freak like that idea.

Hehe, this was written by A.H. Reginald Buller, who's building on the University of Manitoba campus i've slaved away many many hours in... The funny thing is this limeric was written by a Biologist who specialized in Fungi
Sorry to say but this wont be a very good immersion cooling solution, the heat capacity of this stuff is WAY less than water, at least according to the info i could find on it. As well the toxicity is not something you'd want to be exposed to on a daily basis, i just feel sorry for that poor guy on TV who was blithely sticking his hands into the tank of this stuff and such, hope he doesnt need his liver for anything if he does this sort of thing on a regular basis.
Notice how they dont once mention that game industry revenues are up yet again, but like P2P mod chips are evil in their eyes... Personally i have a modded Xbox, and i just love the ability to have all my games on the HD as i use it in my car and i can throw the box somewhere nice and hidden and just hook it up to a 802.11g gateway when i need to update something. But apparently my doing this costs the game companies whose games i own money, prolly because i dont have to buy new copies to replace those that are all scratched up
The needle-less shots McCoy would give for every little thing are not that far off either, DMSO is a popular one that's used for horses, but you wouldnt want that one used on yourself unless you love the taste/smell of dead fish...
I did something similar to this but i just bought an old PII/300 laptop with a 15" screen... got the whole deal for $350 and then only cost me ~$50 for frame materials. On the whole was a lot more simplistic than trying to get all the parts together like this guy did, and as a plus i could get everything running while the laptop was still intact.
Actually being on a small ISP leaves you way more open to harrassment by the various authorities, as your ISP probably doesnt have the legal funds or will to fight off the large well bankrolled organizations such as the CRIA. At least large companies like Shaw, Telus, etc. already have a plethora of lawyers just chomping at the bit to fight any legal challenges
Does this mean apple may have to start shipping OS X without Quicktime? Seriously though, as much as a despise MS, have a default media player is nice, whats going to happen next, no notepad allowed as it competes with XXXXX wordprocessor? Make it like it used to be, an option when installing Windows, so if you dont want it, deselect it...
They still cant find SCO's chance of winning their lawsuit. On the serious side this technique is really quite fascinating and brand new, and changes a lot of previous conceptions about our universe. They even bring up the fact that this same scintillation is responsible for the previously unexplainable observations using VLAs on quasars. Now if they'd only consider saving hubble....
I dont think i want to learn too much from this as the solution was the equivalent of rm -rf... On a side note i wonder when the 40 min ssh delay jokes will begin again
Once again the interference point has to be brought up, the company uses 5 - 70 Mhz, which dumps inteference out on the following bands:
Several Amateur Radio bands (1.8, 3.5, 7.0, 10.0, 14.0, 18.068, 21.0, 24.9, 28.0, 50.0 Mhz) shortwave radio (7-14 Mhz) older cordless devices, such as phones (49 Mhz) CB Radio (29Mhz) Military communications (several)
And there's probably more, but i'm too lazy to dig them up...
The force was strong with this vintage... it's actually not too bad a wine, but horridly overpriced. Of course due to collectors only 2 bottles will ever be consumed, the rest stored away with all those action figures:)
I read this book about a year ago, and i have to admit it was definitely addicting in the beginning, but after about the halfway point the auther i think tries to outsmart himself with too many plot twists and other such tricks to mislead the reader. Overall a good read, and i'd recommend it, but the newer books such as The Davinci Code are much cleaner and a better overall read. On the other hand the author, while making a few glaring errors, does a fairly decent job of dumbing down all the tech for the average reader to understand while still getting the gist correct, which is a nice change:)
As much as i hate the idea of any state having this much information on anybody, I also hate the idea of people getting away with scamming the gov't out of money (thats the politicians job) especially when the majority of the people getting away with this are the people who can afford to pay said taxes. After all how often do you hear of someone with a $20K/year job bragging about how much he hid away in various tax shelters? Of course the people that this would hurt most is those in the service industry, who claim only 10-20% of their income from tips.
Actually having wifi usually wont influence passengers a whole lot as most passengers dont have much choice of which airports they'll be going to (ie. one major airport per city kinda deal) or passing through (connections, gotta love em). I'm not complaining that they're putting it in but it wont make a huge difference on the actual throughput of said airport
How will they pay for this?

Easy, three little words, Airport Improvement Fee... Part of the way your $50 flight ends up costing $100+
I'd love to know what modifications they did to this cool little toy, does anyone have any info on this? i searched the site but all they mention is the different light sources and filters they used, nothing about lenses and diffraction rings and such
Theres a mirror of the site here

Definitely not the case and/or setup for those overclockers out there :) especially with heat output getting real close to 100W...
Apple's entered this arena once, with the Pippin Dont expect them to return anytime soon after the large amount of $$$s lost on that debacle.

Wonder what Linus will have to say about all of this, or did he do the NDA thing to see his own code?
Heh, this has been out for a month almost, mods musta wanted to download it before hitting it with the /. effect
