It is pretty convencing to me, maybe they have somthing. But it is all irrelevant, if people can run windows apps on linux then run windows apps they will, ensuring microsoft's success.
Oh yeah, that sounds like the basis of a sound strategy. Let's try to prevent Microsoft from becoming a success.
(BTFW: the screenshots *are* faked - they show the GOAL of Lindows.. not what they have today - how is that so hard to understand? Do i have to draw a picture for you? Oh.. i guess it needs subtitles too.)

I would not construe this to mean "cut-and-paste mock-up".
The producers of Into the Shadows are a alive and well, but has renamed themselves to Starbreeze Studios [starbreeze.com]. They have yet to release a game at all,
Probably too busy entirely flashifying their site. Christ, tell them to offer a non-flash alternative.
Yeah, I remember waiting for it along with Unreal. (same timeframe I think).
Now, here's a challenge - how about:
LifeBane
Anyone remember that? It wasn't even a game, I don't think - a guy just started posting screenshots and messages about how the game was coming along or something - it had a number of the "waiting for Quake" crowd interested:-)
Or how about:
Into The Shadows
Had that impressive skeleton demo footage. Also came to nothing (they were writing it in assembler - is that the best choice for a game??)
Give em $1M and they'll tell that the majority of people surveyed think the sky is green, Windows is better, and we all ride around on invisible pink unicorns.
Heck, keep them in an asylum if you need, but don't disregard their work. We lost too many geniuses because they were gay, and now we regret it.
There's a difference between being gay and being an insufferable asshole. If you need Primadonnas, use them. But their usefulness should not be used to rationalize derogatory behavior toward others.
And no, I am not referring to Mosfet. I know nothing about him or the Mosfet/KDE thing.
Well, I would say that a very high quality picture is a good idea, but I agree that the economics are all wrong. Cable and Satellite have demonstrated that people want more channels,
Replace the drek currently on TV with XXX high-resolution porn and see how quickly the public changes its mind. They'll want just one extremely high resolution channel.
In my last year of high-school there were two of us exceptionally scary geeks and for once the geeks in the school were shoving jocks out of their way. Protection for your own is a great thing.
Protection from your muscle-bound cousin, who was a runner-up in a state-wide body-building contest, is also a good thing:-)
...requires 4 AA batteries though. these aren't the tiny (size of a deck of cards0 solarbotics you've seen before, they're closer in footprint size comparable to that of a sheet of paper.
That's too bad - I was interested in miniature little bug-like things and probably would have bought the whole set if they were, say, four inches or less in length. I dont't want a bunch of big clunky things rattling across my floor.
Oh well, when the Japanese get hold of this they'll get smaller:-)
I mean, jeez, the scrollbars don't even work right in the preferences dialog box.
So Mozilla is open source. So what? Who cares?
Well, I care. And I think your priorities are pretty lame.
As for "telling it like it is" - you're simply telling it as you see it. That's cool I guess. I just think standards compliance, openness, and privacy controls are more important than whether or not the Mozilla team has fixed the preferences scrollbar yet.
Ooh Wow, the lastest version of a buggy, slow, bloated browser! I can't wait to downgrade my system again!
Ooh Wow, another Microsoft indentured servant!
It's obvious you haven't used Mozilla recently (like, the last three releases). Fantastic standards-compliant browser with excellent USER-FRIENDLY - as opposed to ADVERTISER-FRIENDLY - customization and privacy options.
And on my system, using Mozilla's quick start option, it loads FASTER than IE.
I'd love to chat, but I'm gonna rush off to get the new release!
Does the web surfing population necessarily represent all computer owners? I would suggest that web surfers are slightly more likely to be tech-savvy and therefore web-surfers will have a higher percentage of Linux desktop use than non-web users. So the figure may be even lower.
You've got it backwards. Most web surfers are LESS technically savvy - that's one of the only reason they bought their clickie-devil-machine in the first place. The serious users are heads-down in source code.
Wasn't a Weezer video clip on the Windows 95 CD ? (an excellent Video Clip made after the "Happy Days" series)
I knew the lead singer of Weezer (Rivers Cuomo) when he was in high school. Back then he was in a Big Hair garage band (uh, like Poison or Ratt), and he had this wacky long pop-rock hairstyle.
He must have been real popular with the ladies, becaue I borrowed his car once and there were about three used condoms lying in the footwell on the passenger side.

Finally, millions of people have a hotmail account. And there, they forget to point out that they don't want to be listed in the so-called White Pages, a main source for spammers.
Don't you mean "Microsoft Preferred Retailing Associates"?
Oh yeah, that sounds like the basis of a sound strategy. Let's try to prevent Microsoft from becoming a success.

Though I guess you'd have a hell of an "electro-magnetic signature".

What's even better - I've been fucking mine!

Yeesh, I hope that doesn't explain the rubbers.
Protection from your muscle-bound cousin, who was a runner-up in a state-wide body-building contest, is also a good thing :-)
Your comments have the carefree quality of someone who has not yet been bitten by Microsoft's lousy security record or its customers==sheep attitude.
Enjoy it while you can - your day will come.
Get rechargables.
Only problem I've had with them is the scarcity of true 1.5V rechargables - seems they're all 1.25V for some reason.
That's too bad - I was interested in miniature little bug-like things and probably would have bought the whole set if they were, say, four inches or less in length. I dont't want a bunch of big clunky things rattling across my floor.

Beat me to it. "Monoculture" - I think we should be hearing a lot more about this word. It's not just a marketplace issue.
And from the "unsupported" page:
meta NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0"
I mean, jeez, the scrollbars don't even work right in the preferences dialog box.

And cross-platform is pretty freakin cool too.
To each his own.

Yeah, well I'd punch you back, and then we'd be boxen.

And they would have titled it: "Spamlet".
Well, yeah - how the hell are you supposed to lean into a turn with training wheels on?
Hey, I'm a Pepper!
