And if you had 2 dual processors on a chip, you too would get the extra performance - more so than 2 hyperthreading enabled processors.
The point is - the P4's die is so large that any advantage of hyperthreading can quickly be countered by putting 2 small die processors on a single chip, such as athlon.
Sure, it does sound good having the ability to pose as 2 cpu's, but you won't get the performance that you would from a real dual cpu setup.
And, because of this AMD is at advantage. Athlon is much much smaller at an equal fabrication process, so even if hyperthreading took off, AMD would be able to combine 2 cpu cores in the one chip and still be able to compete easily in terms of die size and attain a higher level of performance, because 2 real cpu's will beat 1 cpu posing as two any day.
It's not like MS has to open the code up to the whole world, they just need to give the prosecution's lawyers and their experts a look up their dress to see if it really is that important that windows can't function without it.
It would've been considerably easier to lure hot CG talent to make the movie if the studio was in hawaii, as opposed to being in the middle of a corn field...
And to think, you got modded up for posting false information, then modded up for admitting you're wrong. Damn, getting karma points on this thing is *hard*:)
The car comes with 50 free copies of daikatana. That together with 20 dollars of petrol, adds a combined total of 15 dollars to the price of the car! *BARGAIN*
There is one immediate problem with these types of networks. Line Of Sight.
I, along with many other you hopeful's (who can't afford australian broadband) planned on building a wireless network in my city of Adelaide. We had absolutely no trouble getting enough people to join, but the problem was that in suburban areas it is hard to gain line of sight to other people, because of things such as next door neighbours with 2 storey houses, and trees were also a big problem.
Melbourne has had it's own wireless network running, as have other cities in australia. Visit air.net.au for an idea of other projects which have been going for much longer.
It all depends on how many stories are posted about specific distro's. If the number of stories about mandrake or SuSE were higher than other distro's, then naturally you'd have a higher total of debian loving posts. It is the same with Gnome or Kde. If there were alot more stories about gnome, then one's general perception of the "progression of linux users" would be that KDE is the most stable and user friendly desktop for linux, and that they are all refugees from Gnome.
Luser: What does this mean... failed dependency?

Based on that logic, they shouldn't have ever released a machine with Windows.
Why are they shipping a distro that is nearly 1 year old! Especially considering it's successor has been out for months.
Also, what happened with this rumoured mandrake on hp i've been hearing about? Were't they putting Mandrake as an option on home PC's ?
I'm pretty sure that they would compile it to make sure they were getting what the asked for.

Unless you can get 10 million of your friends to do the same, it won't makea difference.
I can't wait for their next campaign, arming their employees with sticks to write "IBM Luvs LINUX" in every bit of wet concrete they see.

Yes, but the fact that you could go to your local video game store and find linux games there is a start at least...
Expect them to be out around April.
