Given the these facts About 70% of the people live in more than 550,000 villages, and the remainder in more than 200 towns and cities. Source-O-Factoids
You know the old saying "You can't teach and old Dog... Blah, Blah, Blah."
Like we are all suprised. I mean come on, you Didn't think thay would pick someone, that actuaqlly gave a DAMN, or actually understands something other that the party line.

You think, they would do some additional market research to possible, names. JAZZ, is so closely associated with iOmegas' Jazz Drive, and their infamy is well, known. I wouldn't want to be even remotely associated to that company.
Some kind of Name a little more media savy or Market Targetable.
I mean seriously folk. It looks like a FrankenPod. Now it is functional. "Commodore presents the new portable jukebox with 20 GB of storage space for all your favorite music tracks. The Commodore eVIC musicbox is one of the most complete jukeboxes around, including high quality headphones and a small dockingstation to connect for example speakers or a digital camera. Just connect the camera to the docking, drag the made photos to the storage device and you can make new photos again! "
How long before these devices are all black labeled or, simply squashed by the Media Congloms, or legislation?
Now on the Coolness, factor alone. DAMN!! I want one. I can see this as a great boon, to non pcliterati, and hardware crusty's as well. I just have to break some hardware here at the house to something like that under wife-radar.
Weedled out this nugget from the US Gov, web site. I'm sure it can be added to or clarified further.

"In addition, patients would have to sign a specific authorization before a covered entity could release their medical information to a life insurer, a bank, a marketing firm or another outside business for purposes not related to their health care." -also-
"Confidential communications. Under the privacy rule, patients can request that their doctors, health plans and other covered entities take reasonable steps to ensure that their communications with the patient are confidential."
"He is a consultant to Microsoft, Toshiba and others on the next-generation DVD, which promises to pack even clearer images and more features onto the discs. It could mean another windfall."
I feel like Tommy Lee Jones in MIB I, when he says, he'll have to buy the White Album again.
Once the Industry has bled DvD for all it's worth, then we might seea bulk move to the newest, standards. Whichever they turn out to be.
"While scanlators operate somewhat outside legal boundaries -- the works they're republishing are copyrighted and proprietary, and there isn't a penny of licensing money exchanging hands -- their existence is tolerated by the commercial publishing houses because, frankly, scanlators play the invaluable role of identifying new titles that are hotly in demand."
Sounds like a justification, for every illegal form of trading to have come forward to this point. Where I will not fault, the folks for scanning and redistributing copyrighted material myself (..owing to glass house syndrome.) Theft is theft. Do BSA members, and all other software companies, learn which of thier titles are most popular, or are they robbed of revenues? Recording Industry? Visual Media Companies?
Ok Call me crazy, but somehow I see this information, crossing the boundry and making it off the reservation. One clever Hack, is probably all it would take. Better yet I see, the University as a Governmentally Funded Entity, somehow coerced by the Dept. of Homeland Security, into passing over the Data, or The program being Co-opted into some sort of Covert monitoring Utility, with a Cleverly conceled Opt-In, hidden in an Streamlined Update.
Want a good way to spot all those Heavy Bandwidth, Warzer's and P2P Traders? Also how long before the Data gets Mined for some purpose, as well. No matter how, well intentioned, and no matter what they say, about their privacy, settings, it can be Co-opted, if someone wants the information.
I subscribe to dave TV (direct TV.) It has dedicated music channels, by Genre. 80's, 90's, Jazz etc... I use a video capture to bring it into my machine. I then use a recording package to rip the songs, the audio comes in on it's own channel, and Total Recorder or Goldwave works fine, for doing this, then convert to whichever compression you want. I want from the blocks I recorded, and process them, myself. the quality is fine, for me. I find this a good enough alternative.
"Another man, Buttle, B58/732, a shoe repair operative, was wrongfully scheduled for Information Retrieval with officer 412/L, but thankfully the error was cleared up just in time and a full apology given to his widow. "
Sooner or later this is where, we'll be. Like it or not.
I see everyone getting sued, and decrying the practice as deplorable, but who's going to get paid? It looks as if this is one of those, well we'll fix the problem, and from "This Point On We won't do this anymore." Once all the furor blows over and in a few years, it's back to "business as Usual." Morality Stops at the Bottom Line. $$$ I worked at BestBuy for awhile, and was slated for middle management, when I wouldn't steer potential customers of sales item, towards service policies, I was told to do everything possible, to drive them off buying the sales item, everything, even to the point of declaming the item, was an inferior product and not worth buying. Scullduggery is present at all levels, and all manors. This doesn't suprise me at all.
"The report says programmers should be held personally accountable for security holes in the software they write."
Now we see, a shift of responsibility, to the programmers. Lets just try and put as many layers, as possible between the Corp Entity and responsibility as possible why don't we.
"The report said industry groups should work with the Homeland Security Department to look at ways to reduce liability, as well as examining whether new rules are needed."
And now we see a way to tie, the mass collection of data, that the GOV. is asking for, and private industry together.
This is one small step, further towards the Corp, Entity as Goverment.
