WINE contains no Windows; it's a reimplementation of the Win32API, etc.
This is true in the default config, but Wine also supports dropping in many/most of the actual Windows DLLs if you have them. It’s one common hack to get otherwise-unsupported versions of software to work (especially games).
Back in the old days of television, commercial breaks were prime time for “potty breaks”. During hugely popular shows (e.g. Roots or the Super Bowl), there were anecdotes about large old apartment buildings having their plumbing fail because too many people flushed at the same time.
It's just that Howlin' Mad Murphy's pirate radio station is back on the air thanks to the FCC's Search and Destroy team being out of action, thanks to the government shutdown.
They are way more willing to accept censorship to suppress "hate speech", burqa bans, etc.
The events of World War II may have had a tiny impact on this... sure, Americans also fought in the war, but the American population as a whole had it pretty good (relatively speaking).
So Dr. Rita Kappel was initially disciplined and her right to practice was suspended because of her postoperative care of a patient - but then her disciplinary action was altered to allow her to continue to practice. However the overall disciplinary action remains intact and on her record.
Do I have those facts regarding Dr. Rita Kappel correct?
Apparently the tribunal didn't agree. "The right to privacy is more important than for the public to find information on the judgment of a medical board"
Speaking as an American - I'd love to see a poll showing where European citizens fall on that question. I have a hard time believing they'd agree with the tribunal; but perhaps I just don't understand the average European.
Yeah, I heard that the viewing situation improved considerably as one headed north - it was supposedly great up in BC! I'm about 40 miles south of Seattle, though, and it was cool enough (and the soil wet enough) that fog ended up being a problem.
One of the great things about lunar eclipses, though, is that they're not all that uncommon. We've gotten to see a number of them over the past several years.
Does Google just sign up for every multi-company initiative as a matter of course? Are we going to hear next about their participation on the ratings panels for small gas engines or feminine hygiene products?
If everyone harvested the wind and the waves, there'd be no wind and waves. This solution simply does not scale.
Well, their first choice was to build a Dyson Sphere... but once they looked at Dyson’s Catalog, they decided the company’s prices are just too outrageous.
I that’s a bit of an oversimplification. Android offers a public beta program (much like Apple) which does test pre-releases against a set of eligible Android devices with the stated purpose of identifying both software and hardware incompatibilities.
However for those Android devices which are not beta-eligible, your statement is true.
... the end of Google+ doesn’t break our YouTube channel.
We set up a channel for our work, but quickly found that there were numerous artificial constraints on the channel unless we also created a Google+ account and linked them together. A couple years ago Google said they’d provide a way to unlink YouTube from Google’s+, but as far as I know they never followed through on that. So, with Google+ ending, it will be interesting to see what breaks.
Well, based on the linked site... it seems eerily like scaremonging.
They list one possibility is indeed “may not work”, but that’s alongside “slower than it should be”. But they say current DNS is already slower than it should be, so reading between the lines I’m going to guess that just about no one is actually going to see anything change.
But if you do read it, just remember that death threats on the internet are absurdly hollow. No-one wants to actually get up from a chair and do anything about anything...
I’m sure the guys who are making internet death threats aren’t deterred by getting up from a chair. It’s the long climb up the stairs from their mom’s basement which really gives them pause.
But I'm not sure, on the face of it, how this substantially differs from the usual political practice of quoting poll numbers which possess only a tenuous relationship with reality.
"I have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it further."
People probably should wait and see if this is just a technical glitch. Websites do go down, occasionally.

... and we got to see full totality for maybe 15 minutes before the fog started to significantly interfere. Now I can’t even tell where the moon is...
But it was still cool, regardless.
I live in western Washington State, you insensitiv... oh, wait, the sky is actually fairly clear right now. I can see the moon!
Never mind.
(But it does seem like fog may ultimately get in the way)

How about the Thompson Twins?
This was at St. Andrews - the chemists we’re playing golf.
Which explains the presence p, on this particular chart, of the so-called elements “mashie” and “niblick”.
