    Do the trades "clear" in the same way that checks "clear"? In other words, is there literally no point in time when you can be 100% sure that the transaction won't be reversed on you like with checks?

    100% I don't know, but it's got to be high 99s.

    That finding your soulmate stuff is bullshit. You find someone you get along with and then you both choose to make it work. It's only much later that you become "soulmates".

    Stocks trade in values more significant than a penny. How does the poster or the article not realize this.

    Perhaps he is not privy to your personal fantasy world where that's true. How do you not realize this?

    I doubt that's true even during normal hours, but it's certainly not true outside of them. Plus this wasn't even a market problem, but rather an information problem. The market prices were not affected.

    This doesn't change that. The "ringing" you hear normally is not the same ringing as is actually happening. And in this case you are simply hearing music instead of the simulated ringing. Nothing changes on the other end.

    If you're into playing chess and you're serious about the game (and improving yourself) this site is hands down the best there is/ever was/ever will be.

    An argument can be made for chess24, though it's still young.

    I wonder if the games total is so large because a significant number of them are not actually people playing but people using bots to play for analysis purposes.

    No, they are real games by real people. I personally have a bit over 15,000 games played. At this moment (~1PM eastern time on a Tuesday afternoon) there 28,384 players online and 10,158 games currently in progress. The very large majority of those games are 5 minutes or less. Almost all of mine are 2/1 (two minutes per side with a one second increment after each move).
    Also, it's not a bot-friendly site. There is no API, and no real point to hacking it when other sites are much more amenable to bot play. If they detect a computer-aided game (it's not difficult) the account is banned.

    I suppose they could, but all played games are preserved in their entirety. Not doing so would be considered a much bigger error in judgment.

    The website has a "CEO", so yes, I can confirm.

    Chess.com is a multi-million dollar business. It'd be more surprising if they didn't have a CEO.
