...then you are already too self-important to be considered seriously. Please, keep this rant from a nobody away from the front page. All he did was to cry about how SPDY sucks and asked to admit defeat without proposing a good alternative, basically telling everyone involved to throw away all work done up to this point and start from scratch (again, without really proposing anything specific, just throw away the prototype!). Thanks, but no thanks.
You are sadly mistaken about the sure to lose part. The burden of proof resides on the officer issuing the ticket, they must be able to unequivocally show that it was you and nobody else driving that car. That is much more difficult to prove than you might think if a cop doesn't pull you over and ask for your driver's license.
After listening to mind-numbing advertisements for 5 minutes, I just closed the tab. I simply came back to warn you guys, don't even bother playing the video unless you have 30 minutes to spare watching commercials
Ah, I can tell that you have never been involved with athletes at this level. Their ability to understand such things beyond "favorite" and "underdog" are questionable to say the least.
As someone who works on cancer research involving human genome, I can tell you that you should read any news/research related to genome sequencing with a pinch of salt. The methods used to sequence genome are notoriously unreliable, and the analysis performed on that genome is even worse. This is what happens when you get money if you publish results that sound "cool", but in reality our understanding and capacity to research stuff at the DNA level is much more limited than most people in the field are willing to admit.
If you are going down that rabbit hole, you might as well talk about the cost of electricity consumed by that Keurig machine. Oh and also factor in the time of putting the cup in place and washing the cup later on, and don't forget to add however many seconds it takes you to program the machine, since we are talking about time...
I like software development. But when I go home, I do other things than write more code (write/record music, write/shoot/direct/edit short films, cook foods, breed fish, exercise/martial arts, spend time with my OS (aka Her), etc). Apparently, to some developers, this means I don't take my job seriously and I shouldn't be in the industry because I'm not spending every moment living and breathing code. I don't even own a github. And frankly, if that's the expectation, I'd rather not work in that sort of environment.
Funny how things change. Now OEM partners can slap WinRT for free on any device as long as they pass the certification tests, and Google charges for access to a store on which they take a significant cut of every sale. If they keep squeezing that cow for more milk...
I actually interviewed for a position at Amazon HQ in Seattle that worked on the software that "guides" the warehouse workers through the maze. I can't disclose details, but it sounded an awful lot like the story that has been posted several times here already: http://marshallbrain.com/manna1.htm
PD: I didn't get the position and, looking back at it, I'm glad
On one side, I understand your frustration with those disrespectful during a meeting. On the other, I think that you take your reaction too far and become quite an elitist if you base your reaction on someone's rank. The idea of a meeting is collaboration, and if you collaborate with some and not others then you are not being a good team player.
That said, is using computers in meetings OK? How about tablets? How about a very large cellphone...? The line is blurring, to me what is important is whether or not what you are doing is beneficial/detrimental to the meeting.
Have you ever seen a real deer? If you estimate less than 100kg I assume not... I have seen cars coming to a full stop (granted, they hit on the brakes too as soon as the deer was into their field of vision) after a collision with the dear at a significantly high speed. In two of those occasions, the car was totaled (the cost of repairing was higher than a new car) and the son of a b**** deer got back up and walked away!!!
That said, I don't think this discovery is going to be particularly useful in it. Sure. Great they're doing this research and good for them for finding something. But the clock they found appears to be correlative instead of causative. Its a log. Its tree rings. It doesn't cause the aging it is instead caused by the aging.

I don't think that the liability will be a barrier for the implementation of autonomous cars. Using the same logic, seatbelts would have never been made legal. Both autonomous cars and seatbelts reduce total the number of deaths on the road (assuming the AI will ever get there) while sacrificing a smaller number who are technically "killed" by the technology itself
You are mistaken in one fundamental part: the UI is the least important of the things shared between the different form factors. While MSFT might have made a mistake by merging the UI for tablets and desktops, the phone has also the same underlying system. The main benefit of that comes when, say, you find a bug in the bluetooth stack; once you fix it, ALL of your products improve thanks to that. Ideally MSFT should just open the doors to developers to make their own UI for their devices, and then just go with whatever the majority likes best for each form factor (while still allowing customization for those who disagree). That is the one true way to give everyone a reason to be happy
On wonders what the Obama administration wants to achieve with such raids.
Since Obama is Kenyan he was just looking for any excuse to help out the Kenyan government. We can see a parallel here in that Bush invaded Iraq solely because he is Turd-ish.:)

The most popular search is indeed "google". By a lot

God help you trying to build that code, at Microsoft we have an entire set of teams dedicated to building Windows :)

I want to mod you up up because you make a good point... BUT you work(ed) at the DMV... ARGH!!!
*head explodes*

Try Lync :)

On that line of thought, trying to replicate the binaries takes a whole new meaning

I'm sorry, but I find hilarious just thinking about all the DMV people WAITING IN LINE. Some would call it karma
