I've seen these UPS trikes in Munich, Germany as well. While we're not quite as gray and wet as Seattle, we're still not the sunniest place. Granted, there are a metric ass load of bike lanes for these to use and being able to get right up to the building makes it a lot easier.
Well, their QA caught it -- but why did it take so long. One would think that once the line has been re-tooled and the units are going through assembly that each station is checked for spec.
It's not like this would've been a high priority for Qualcomm and over those 5 years i'm quite certain these weren't daily Thomas Crowne-intense meetings.
I prefer to call it I95.:)
Just the stretch through Burlington, MA -- look at all of the marquees on the buildings, it's pretty impressive. However, commuting there from where I lived (Swampscott) would've been an exercise in road rage.
When we moved into our new building back in 2003, we went to 100MB Ethernet -- manually set. So when a machine got hooked up to the switch and was set to auto negotiate, it would negotiate itself to 100/half and the switch port would be at 100/full. Stupid. It took a few years of my haranguing them and they finally made it standard that the switches and computers (on the user segments, not the DC segments) would be auto negotiate.
Couple of questions (because I'm interested) - how long did it take to complete your teardown/rebuild? as an engineer, did you over engineer your house? What I mean by that, did you do anything special? 10' ceiling in the basement, no lolly columns, etc.
I live in Munich, Germany now and the cost to OWN a home here is ridiculous. Then again, Germans tend to rent -- a statistic is saw had ~36% of Germans owning their own home while in the US it's ~65%. My rent is reasonable for what I have compared to where I moved from (Boston area). However, home prices are quite a bit higher. AND Munich is going through a hell of a housing boom -- they're building like mad.
...and for decades to come! Just look up "beleaguered Apple" on Google and seem how many hits you get! (-- probably one of the stupidest things I ever read in an article about how poorly Apples prospects were 10+ years ago)
I plan on getting one of these to replace my October 2011 MacBook Air
Well...was coming here to post the same thought. Thank you.
If you have a behavior in an app (application/software/program/whatever) that a third of the users want, a third don't want, and a third without a clue...it should be an option.
There's a whole new class of docking stations that connect via USB3 (when I say NEW I mean new to me) -- granted, you need USB3 on your laptop which I think is fairly pervasive these days. I have yet to TEST one of these...

I wonder if they're being sent to the crusher as is, or if they're being stripped down and parts (seats, radio, stuff like that) are being reused?

Wasn't there a section of preferences called "esoteric settings" which gave you some really focused control on mailbox behavior and the like.
Thank you. I noticed that immediately when I read the synopsis - surprised that it took this long before someone commented on it!
You're from Boston aren't you...
Germans.

Is the mall there still Menlo Park mall?
Is that legacy app a command and control server for a bot net?
You're a fake. Your Slashdot number is too high. Get back to homeroom.

Actually, I'm talking about the 686 prototypes, with the artificial intelligence RISC chip.
Now THAT is an act of war.
Saddam held iraq together.
And Mussolini made the trains run on time. But at what cost?
Explain that directors and film editors ALWAYS put Easter Eggs in those scenes. Also swap(1,6)
Can't have a discussion about the German language without referencing Mark Twain's The Awful German Language: https://www.cs.utah.edu/~gback...

They have these things called bicycles that you could ride to work.
Only one of two actors whose characters were killed by Terminator, the Alien, and the Predator. That's something, no?
