Your iPAQ died? I'm so sorry to hear of your recent loss. I dropped my ipaq screen-down and now have a very pretty classic shattered glass pattern on my screen.
But the real question is: Can the Clie be reflashed with a real operating system? -russ
Regardless of the preface explaining why it says what it says, the Second Amendment says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Tell me: if a law said "So that he may enjoy a long and peaceful life, no Anonymous Coward shall be shot", do you think that means that there are any circumstances under which you may be shot? -russ
If you read what the founders wrote outside of the constitution, you will be pretty satisified tht they meant that anyone who wanted to own a gun should be able to own a gun. In this manner was tyrrany to be prevented. We don't exactly have a tyrranical government yet, but neither has the government managed to confiscate everybody's guns either. -russ

Imagine, our president's wife, having given birth to clones! Twenty one years ago, they were conceived in secret, without any public oversight! Our own president, experimenting with clones. The shock, the horror, the shame of it. Conservatives must be stewing in their juices. -russ
Is the training worth something to you, or is it only worth something to your employer? Is it something that you can reasonably transfer to another job? If not, why take the risk that you job will suck more than it does now? -russ
No. Paypal has screwed up a few times for a few people. That makes people fear that paypal is going to screw up for them. And so paypal suffers for their lack of care. -russ
The problem with this idea is that, in order to have access to these "extraneous" things, you have to do well enough at the stupid things which they think are the purpose of a government school education. So much so that homeschoolers are not allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities in our school district. -russ
The Somalian people have found the solution to that: they deposed their western-style government and have returned to a clan system of governance. And since clans have no concept of taxation, it's an entrepreneurs paradise (modulo US Government threats). -russ
A million dollars a mile? Hmmmm... Then you only need fifty people per mile to cough up the price of a car. (Not that fiber *really* costs a million dollars a mile.) -russ
Knowing Canada, you'd celebrate April 1st on a different day than the US, just like you think 7/4 is "American Cultural Aggression" day, and the second Monday in October is Thanksgiving. -russ
I've heard this "is usenet dead" crap one too many times. Comp.lang.python isn't dead. Soc.religion.quaker isn't dead. comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc isn't dead (okay, so it doesn't have a lot of traffic, but the principals read it, which is what matters). -russ
Bill Gates was the keynote speaker at the Trenton Computer Festival in the early 90's. He spoke about His Vision, which included a processor per person, or even more. He said "There are more people running DOS than anything else". Later, when he took questions, I asked him about Unix: "But each Unix machine serves multiple people at the same time". He countered that with "Unix isn't the future." -russ
Hey, it's the same "solution" that various and multiple ORBZ-fans have suggested to me. "If you don't want to get scanned, just block the scanning machine on the IP level." This sounds a lot like spammers: If you don't want to get email from us, just block our machine on the IP level." -russ
My iPAQ only has 64MB of ram. I know of no Word document which will fit in that little memory.

You assume that anybody with a clue cares about a "slashdot blackout". But ahhhh, I repeat myself.
-russ
No. Paypal has screwed up a few times for a few people. That makes people fear that paypal is going to screw up for them. And so paypal suffers for their lack of care.
-russ
I miss the banner ads! Can't you make the slashdot logo link, jump, and wiggle?
-russ
Actually, you probably say "slashdotted" in Hindi. "rackmount" in Hindi is "rackmount", so why wouldn't "slashdotted" be "slashdotted"?

Hmmm... Well, where we would call Indians "Native Americans", does that make the denizens of the country south of Everest "Native Asians"?
-russ
*You* can call him Barksdale Garbee the Third if you wish, but the rest of us call him Bdale.

Their #1 problem is their government. Look at Somalia: they have no government, and the cheapest cellphone costs on the continent.

The Somalian people have found the solution to that: they deposed their western-style government and have returned to a clan system of governance. And since clans have no concept of taxation, it's an entrepreneurs paradise (modulo US Government threats).

Smart Ass? (Latin may be a dead language, but its children live on).

Boston just dropped their lawsuit against gun manufacturers.
-russ
Oh yeah?
So, how would you juggle in a zero-gravity environment?? Has anybody tried it? Or is the very concept void and null?
