    Regardless of the preface explaining why it says what it says, the Second Amendment says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Tell me: if a law said "So that he may enjoy a long and peaceful life, no Anonymous Coward shall be shot", do you think that means that there are any circumstances under which you may be shot?

    If you read what the founders wrote outside of the constitution, you will be pretty satisified tht they meant that anyone who wanted to own a gun should be able to own a gun. In this manner was tyrrany to be prevented. We don't exactly have a tyrranical government yet, but neither has the government managed to confiscate everybody's guns either.

    The problem with this idea is that, in order to have access to these "extraneous" things, you have to do well enough at the stupid things which they think are the purpose of a government school education. So much so that homeschoolers are not allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities in our school district.

    The Somalian people have found the solution to that: they deposed their western-style government and have returned to a clan system of governance. And since clans have no concept of taxation, it's an entrepreneurs paradise (modulo US Government threats).

    I've heard this "is usenet dead" crap one too many times. Comp.lang.python isn't dead. Soc.religion.quaker isn't dead. comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc isn't dead (okay, so it doesn't have a lot of traffic, but the principals read it, which is what matters).

    Bill Gates was the keynote speaker at the Trenton Computer Festival in the early 90's. He spoke about His Vision, which included a processor per person, or even more. He said "There are more people running DOS than anything else". Later, when he took questions, I asked him about Unix: "But each Unix machine serves multiple people at the same time". He countered that with "Unix isn't the future."

    Hey, it's the same "solution" that various and multiple ORBZ-fans have suggested to me. "If you don't want to get scanned, just block the scanning machine on the IP level." This sounds a lot like spammers: If you don't want to get email from us, just block our machine on the IP level."
