Since the X-Box is going to be using a 733MHz PIII, which, by the time it is released, will be pretty slow, is it possible to just stick in a newer, faster, processor?
Seems like all 'new' Linux software ears a 5/5 rating or 4 stars or product of the year award or some other rating that it doesn't necessarily deserve? If this software was released for windows and compared to other windows-based CAD software, there is no way it would earn a 5/5.
I know we all get excited when something like this is released, but it really should be compared to the competition -- whether or not it is windows software.
True -- but linux doesn't SCALE well at all with more than 4 cpus. With linux in it's infancy, though, and now with the support of Sun, this may not be an issue in a short while.

What happens when you break your Palm Pilot or 'accidentally' do a hard reset? Just like losing your wallet?
Yep, but all I would have to do is re-enable it using Server Manager. I do it all the time. And if someone has 'chosen' to disable the remote control, all I have to do is edit the sms.ini on their pc and then restart the SMS service remotely. Viola!
Not many. But I'm sure tons of people would love to get a movie they haven't seen -- for free -- recompressed as a Star Wars trailer-guality quicktime video...
Obi-Wan let himself be killed by Vader -- remember him just standing there waiting... Qui-Gon on the other hand was pretty much caught off guard. But even then, he was still alive after Obi-Wan killed Darth Maul.... ummm... who knows?
how much can you build up a relationship between a 8-10 yr. old boy and a 16-ish year old queen. Honestly, I'd be a little disturbed if I saw that happening.
When the N64 came out, pc graphics hardware was nothing like it is today. Which brings up another point -- there is probably not THAT much going on with the PPC processor. Most of the intensive stuff (read hard to emulate) is going to be handled by customized graphics processors, etc...

Give me a break, man. How many of us looked at the nifty 3d graphics of a Cray supercomputer 10-15 years ago, and said that multi-million dollar technology will never make it to the desktop.
Technology is advancing so rapidly that none of us can really predict what is going to happen. The things that we think will never be within our grasp are the things that are most likely to become a huge part of our lives.
Sorry to ramble on, but I've been thinking alot lately of just how quickly we (humans) are growing...
If it weren't for heavy business use, there wouldn't be a Wintel monopoly. How many IS departments are going to trade in their Dells and Gateways for Sony Playstations???
I don't know if these guys even know how their product works or the effects of it. For example, in two places they say that the total scanning time is 10 seconds. In another spot, they say twenty. The chart says.24 mrem per inspection, the cutesy radiation comparison picture says.5 mrem / inspection. Would you guys trust a carmaker if they said their new high tech auto had 300 horsepower, and then later said it had 150 hp?
Is it possible that MS would release the source code to the kernel only? For example, the low level stuff such as the HAL, and the code that interfaces with it (Leave out the GUI stuff). This way, they could open source it, it really wouldn't be of much use to anyone, and the DoJ gets off their backs because they wouldn't know the difference anyway...
of course they could just block ssh at their firewall and put an end to that real quick...

What are the specs on this? Will the sound quality be dramatically better or will it just hold alot of music? or both?

Check it out here.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks pretty cool.

Then your sys. admin has already given you too much control and it serves him right if he can't access your pc.

isn't this kind of like saying that the move from 16-bit processors to 32-bit processors was not necessary?

especially when he said 'how rude' those 2 or 3 times. He sounded like one of those damn Olsen twins from Full House. I was embarrassed for Lucas...

I often find myself using the graffiti 'T' while writing. It's really annoying...
correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the queen the mother of Leia? Maybe Lucas wanted people to see the similarities between the two.

But I wouldn't have any problem using my $500,000 limit VISA over a non-secure connection...

Check out the 'my family' page... Al & Tipper's daughters are pretty hot. Admittedly, they're no Chelsea Clinton... ;)
