Have you tried GnuCash its really good. I was a first time financial package user and had no trouble learning it. My friend was a long time Quicken user and GnuCash imported all his files pretty well. I think it took him an afternoon to sort it out but after that and support for his PDA, bye-bye windows box.
Damn straight! I have put my foot down I will not buy anything that Microsoft stands to gain from, you can talk all day long about how you hate Microsoft but the xbox comes out and boom gotta have one of those. I bought a Playstation2 and some people feel Sony is just a evil as Microsoft but Microsoft is my personal battle and I will not spend one red cent on them. If you think Microsoft is evil and has a monopoly, boycott them. This is how you change things in a free market society.
I agree Junkyard Wars lost very little in the translation. Okay so we got hip looking young guys as co-hosts. Who cares about them anyway. I'm watching for the funky building action, the funky chalk drawings, and cathy rogers explains it all.
Now Iron Chef without the chairman. I just don't know if I can take it.

I ask the reverse question how can you be pro-MS or even MS-agnostic. MS has proven it self to be a blight on the computing world. Do you expect it to be anything else in another market. Microsoft is only interested in taking your money not in the value they provide to you. Check out the license fees for.NET not only to developers but end users also. The are the only company I can think of that the user is expected to service the computer not the company service the user.
I refuse to give them money for my desktop which I actually need. There is no way I'm giving them money for something for entertainment. Even If the XBox is the greatest thing and the most advanced console ever I will NEVER buy one. People need to have the balls to say 'I don't like your business practices so I won't use your products'. VOTE WITH YOUR DOLLARS! Thats what companies understand. You can bash MS all day long but if at the end of the day you go to WalMart and buy an XBox MS will smile even bigger. Someone who supposely hates them is still inclined to give them money.
I wrote an email to my Rep regarding a technology issue. An aide did respond and responded personally not some form letter. He had actually looked at some of the things I referenced and flat admitted he didn't understand it. He then pointed me to the FCC which was the gov. org covering this topic. While I was not happy with the response I received I was happy to see someone actually read the email and tried to figure out the details behind it. This was Indiana about 6 months ago.
I for one close all ports that I don't need to be open. At work this means my linux box listens on zero ports. I don't execute code that people send me in emails (though no one sends my linux executable stuff just MS Crap (people are wiser than that)) If I do open a port I update update update. 'nuff said. Most these worms exploit known bugs that MS users haven't heard about but the patch has been out for months.
I hate the fact that people say it needs to have better this filters and importers. (My documents can't be imported well.) Microsoft is to blame for this. They have closed file formats and filters have to be reversed engineered. If they used a nice open format converting could be a snap. Of course then they would have to compete on the level is my (spreadsheet|editor|etc) better and easier to use than anyone elses. Its high time users demanded interoperiablity and the way you do this is you don't pony up the bucks until a company adds the features you want.
Its stupid FCC regulations that are causing this. When I moved I want to get a DirectTV Dish but I want my FOX and other locals to come from the same source (is this really to much to ask) but I live in Lafayette, IN. My local stations (beside CBS) come from Indianapolis you can get local stations on DirectTV in Indianapolis but the regions of local service are determined by the nielsen people. They have assigned lafayette a different region even though our local signal come from Indianapolis. So because the FCC decided to use some non-related source to determine local station broadcast I can't get local stations. The people in Indianapolis who could get a much better over-the-air signal than I can get in through the dish but not me. Does this make any sense, No! So I wrote my congress man about the FCC regulations, the reply I got back basically said I don't understand this technical stuff go read the FCC regulations (which I already had). Thus the only way from me to get local stations on the dish would be to pirate them! Which I don't do.
I missed the 4th of July episode and the VCR didn't get set!!!! I am still kicking myself that is the best show of TV. Anyone want to send me a copy of it?????
Okay so this was only 900 bytes of his bandwidth everytime someone loaded your page. However if everyone who displayed a powered by php logo did this the traffic could potentially flood his webserver just to serve some stupid 900 byte image. So he took actions that would most certainly gain your attention so you would correct the problem. LEARN from YOUR mistake and don't do it again. Download the image and put it on your site. I can't believe you would even consider legal action. btw I think Ask Slashdot should be killed off after this post. Do you guys even read the questions?
I worked at one during High School and to avoid these problems we changed the sign first. That way any new customers would see the new price on the sign. Once all customers who were filling before I got done changing the sign we changed the price. No source of argument. Drove up saw old price got, Drove up new price up got it maybe got lucky and got old price. But no one who saw older price got newer price. Did the reverse when lowering, change pumps first then sign.
I wish people would stop using the phrase 'Moore's Law'. How bout 'Moore's Trend' or 'Moorse's Estimation' I dont care. Its not a law a law is something that would continue to exist with out us. Particles would still obey the laws the govern them without us watching or defining the laws. 'Moore's Law' would mean nothing if we stop make new transitor tech or discover a drastic new way of doing it that allowed us to go from 1 billion today to 10 billion tommorrow. Sure we would be breaking 'Moore's Law' but really just beating his prediction. I think is prediction his pretty cool seeing how it is fairly close, but you do disservice to laws of the universe that cannot be broken. If a law can be broken, its not a law its an invalid theory.
And how does this avoid DNS? you still have to resolve the host name given to you by google to an IP address. These virtual hosts still have to be in DNS to be looked up. The problem is the iron fist ICAAN is controlling DNS names with, not tech troubles.
Actually that article talks about microfans that still have moving parts. These micro coolers have no moving parts and thus are not prone to breakdown. They work by using the flow of electricity from one semiconducting material to another to extract the heat inbetween. Howver as of yet they are still quite inefficient. Someone did point out an slashdot article that is exactly this however.
Who ever mod'd this up needs to think again. If sites like Salon continue to make no money they will soon go out of business then you will have no Salon to read. No ammount of blocking will get you a site that has gone out of business.
If you like a service you should be willing to provide some revenue for them, either subscription or ads. It amazes me, people will pay for cable and magazines both of which have subscription cost and ads but expect all online e-zines to be free.
Lying on an application is usually grounds for dismisal. Once a commitment to the reserves did come up you would have given them all the reason they need to fire you. You lied, end of story.
So why even it have it. It didn't add anything to the movie except another stupid CG scene. Instead
of making those dumb Special Editions they could have taken that time and put out some excellent DVDs. Which we still do not have. And when they finally come out they will probably be the Special Editions. Well that sucks. You know what George, Cram It! I'm not buying your stupid 'Han Solo won't fire until fired upon' Special Editions!
It does not specify but they should charge him with fraud for every email he sent. Lets see that would be about a million counts of fraud...that should up that sentance quite a bit. That way the bigger a spammer as person is the more years and bigger fines they can get.
I have and never will make a Star Wars parody but if I did this is the last site I would put it up on. Basically you are submitting to Lucas's demands on something he has no right to. If he did there could be no Weird Al, Saturday Night, MAD Magazine, or scores of parody producing forums. So go make a Star Wars parody and put it up somewhere else!
Yeah because no one today is interested in ancient civilizations. Oh wait a minute, people spend there entire lives hoping to discover something that lets them understand even a fraction of what daily life for ancient people was like.
Heck people spend there lives trying to figure out what life was like on earth millions of years ago. If the dinosaurs had the intelligence to leave a record behind I'd be willing to bet we would spend much time and money trying to figure it out.
Granted there may be no intelligent life left to discover it, however if intelligent life does exist, I think they may be very interested it was life was like 50000 years before.
If you filter, why are you here? If you have nothing to add about complaints about the article, maybe you should email CmdTaco. However complaining about a article not discussing the article it self should be OT

Hell I know this was posted some time ago and you might not ever see this reply. But were you stationed at Gunter any of this time? I was.

Bingo. I let the server admin people run the samba servers and web servers and the ilk. I write code.
