How about we socialise everything that everyone needs. You're going to pay for it so why not include it in taxes and get a massive economy of scale? This still leaves loads of room for corporations to make cash on "luxuries" and will leave more money in the pockets of the consumer to spend on it?
Economy of scale is still a pretty powerful argument, IMHO, especially when it comes to education, basic utilities, roads and health care).
Surely we can build capitalism on a strong social base?
I know I'm whispering in a tornado but can we just think about how to do things better rather than clash ideologies?
Well you have a point, taxation in the 1700s can be simplistically measured as a percentage next to todays value.
Also, like British rule, Republicans are no longer allowed to vote - so the taxation without representation isn't bizarre "I'm taking my ball home" oddness.
I've noticed too, it really is disturbing. Considering the fact that we're now in the 21st century the kind of reactionary hatefulness on this site is weird.
I hate censorship but maybe if the response to racist posts were less along the lines of "oh, it's -1 troll/flamebait that's ok" and more "fuck off you hateful shit-storm" then things could improve?
SCENARIO #1: Take a pedophile and put him in a class of 5 year old - he rapes them all to death.
SCENARIO #2: Take a pedophile and put him in a university lecturer's position of 18+ year olds.
In scenario #1 the teacher would be fired as a "bad" teacher. In scenario #2, the same teacher would get a bonus for producing such accomplished students.
Of coursed I just pulled these scenarios clean out of my ass like the GP did but does that make either of us less of a massive cunt?
(If it makes any difference all the kids in scenario #1 died of anal bleeding).
In other news some other think tank says that orange farmers may be forced to stop growing apples, leading to the end of oranges due to not enough funding. "Cirusium Ex Examina", an independant body has released a paper showing just how this might happen in 4 months time. Asked how the think tank can stay afloat by just "thinking things and then saying what those things are" a spokesman said "We're heavily funded by The Orange Industry".
Think tanks stink no matter whether you agree with them or not.
(This opinion is not final but is strongly held opposing debate would be more than welcomed but I don't see another option).
it is unfortunate that a government site should take down a perfectly appropriate publication because some people whine about it.
A colouring book of a terrorist attack is appropriate how?
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe "the Suicide Bombers From Space" would also be a good cartoon (obviously I've fictionalised it but it's for the ratings). Or maybe leave terrorism to be discussed and considered by adults rather than kids eh? Maybe they'd prefer to go for a bike ride or something - they have the rest of their lives to be depressed, let's at least wait until they hit 13.
It's a difficult decision, I don't know what to think.
That's annoying (and it never seems to respect my "never do this again" check) but it's not auto run - you know when the CD just boots and doesn't give you any options?
Stop building up their few successes (admittedly one of which was a tragedy) into a global war.
Not all muslims are terrorists.
The terrorists among them - as with any terrorist groups - are not to be feared and placed on a pedestal of evil - they're cunts, pure and simple. Terrorists are not a holy opposition or a credible enemy, they're cunts to which we should afford the same respect as we do a pigeon that shits on you.
You want to ratchet up the conflict to "us" against "the muslim terror machine" then go ahead - to be honest I think the roads pretty much paved and pointed, right now - but maybe not validating some shits in a cave is better in the long run than picking a fight with 20-25% of the world population? Wow, you smashed that strawman good.
Perhaps "cunt-shadow" but I think you're right. The English language isn't powerful enough to describe the "man".
Surely in a free market the US could provide cheaper domestic food to the market than stuff that needed shipping half way around the world?

Don't you think that living in one of the world's safest and healthiest countries is worth something?
How else can you fund the social machine that allows you to have a decent standard of living? Roads, hospitals, education, and government costs money.
It doesn't sound like punishment to me.
Ahem. I don't think the discussion's about Canada.
I don't understand what you're saying here. Could you clarify?

I, as someone on the complete polar opposite end of the spectrum, approve this message. Who say bi-partisanship doesn't work?
In fact, there are some differences in intelligence between different races, but they are pretty minor. But it's not relevant to the question at hand.
I've heard that there are intelligence differences wihin races too - some of them pretty major (with the evidence at hand).

Cock end.
As testament to why I never usually reply to posts I agree with:
Errr, you're right! Economics is the driving force here, not race.
See, I'm shit and I seem disingenuous.

I don't think liberal means what you think it does.
p.s. you're a douche. (I'm trying to keep up with partisan bollocks am I doing ok?)
As it's Italy half way through the prosecution the government will change sides and support the defendants. This is good news for the PB folks.
Fair point, I was just annoyed at the stupid modding your post certainly didn't deserve a Troll mod though.
And DRM certainly applies to vista (+5 corporatism!)
What's with all the pro MS modding in this thread?
XP was ok - not as good as 2000, IMHO, and Vista was shocking, why mod the parent troll?
(NB: too tired for full post)
Because it wasn't announced by Microsoft. It was leaked by Acer's European vice president.
Stunning. I think you missed the point there by a good 34 light years. May be a new record.
You know you're on to a loser when you have to state your pop culture reference in capitals.

Because the level of irony created in anyone wearing it would destroy time.

Jesus, the Library of Congress must be huge.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, muslims, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, Darwinists (sp), blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
