  1. Re:What I plan to tell my kids on What You'll Wish You'd Known · · Score: 3, Insightful

Our primary advice to our kids will be: "It gets better."

    That's not advice, that's just a statement.

High school will not be, and shouldn't be, "the best years of your life." People will be petty, people won't understand you.

You are well-meaning, and that's important, but don't presume to know that your kids' experiences will be at all similar to yours. Kids can really surprise you, and yours may have a wonderful high school experience.

Right you are. Interestingly, I would never have noticed that had you not pointed it out. Google, at least, does a much better job separating the sponsored links from the results (and the sponsored links are more appropriate to the search, too, I might add).

At this stage of the game, MSN doesn't look like much of a threat to the One True Search Engine.

I'm not sure that a signed identity is the problem.

With Friendster, there is a user called "Boston" that a lot of my friends are friends of (which is fine, since I'm from Boston).

The problem is that "Boston" is friends with "Seattle," meaning that my network is full of people that have no real connection to me. The network has become too loosely tied together. I'd much rather have a smaller, more reliable network than the one that currently exists.

This is your favorite technical web site. Admit it. It is. Mine too. Forgive the occasional dupe, k?

Your comment itself is a duplicate - it's been posted at least 10 times for every duplicate the editors post. That's what's sad.

Being stuffed into a locker has nothing to do with intelligence - it has to do with being "nerdy." In school, and hung out with a lot of nerdy people who were not particularly bright.

The quotes from people from "traditional" news sites were stale and meaningless. The best part about the article was Rob's quote that he's not a journalist. Other than that it was like all of the other Slashdot stories I've read: superficial.
