Oh yeah. With a feature like this, DoS never has been easier to do.

BTW: This exists already for some modems and is called "ath0ping". Some modems do not wait the obligatory second before and after the escape-code (+++) but return instantly to command-mode. So when you send the host a ICMP-Packet containing the string +++ATH0, it of course pongs this string. Due to this design-bug, the modem treats the string as a command and... (TADAA!) hangs up.
This bug is mostly found in el-cheapo modems. My USR Sportster is invulnerable however.

The big companies may think that but if one deletes any installed software before he sells the CD it came on, this is totally legal. (Or is it?)

Of course, newer games are fun too and looking at the graphics and sounds of Paradroid, there have been many improvements since then.
On the other hand, there was a version for the Amiga (Paradroi '90) which had better graphics. Though, it just didn't have "it".
I think, the main reason that the C64-Version is more fun is in the fact, that all robots were symbolized the same as balls with a three-digit number. It was left to your own fantasy how those robots really looked. At least, this is why I like it more.
Maybe someone will come up with a totally refurbished 3D-Version of that game. I claim it still won't be that much fun.

Like the original 2D-Lemmings were far more fun to play than the latter 3D-Versions.

OTOH, why does anyone automatically thinks, you could only use a DVD-Recorder to copy commercial movies? Sure, it's a bit expensive (by now) for home-videos. But do you remember the times, when CD-RW were almost unaffordable? Price-drops are for sure to come as technology gets more mainstream.

Considering that people want to discuss articles, a certain lag until a post goes online would make /. rather unattractive then.

If posts would be put online immediately (as is now) and some AC keeps posting the offending(?) posts over and over, /. maybe cannot keep up in deleting them fast enough (think DoS here). What would be the consequences? /. would either face more of those *%!? lawsuits or it has to shutdown discussion-boards.

I can remember a console or rather a standard for a console named 3DO. It never really caught on.

I think, this is mainly because a console cannot be upgraded easily. A console is delivered and used "as is". Standardizing this would mean that you cannot use newer technologies.
In the PC-World, you can just upgrade. If your GFX-Card is too slow, replace it with a faster one. The processor is at it's limit, then get a new one.

That's why emulation is good. You buy a new console and with an emulator you still can play the old games.
As is with bleem! you maybe benefit too from improved graphics. At least, the pc-version supports 3D-Accellerators. Tekken 3 just looks great on it.
