    There's no easy way to filter URL's out of IP packets. IP routes based on IP address and not on URL. To an IP router 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' looks exactly the same as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/illegalMP3s'. How can they implement this at the major service
    provider's routers?

    They might try actually reading the packets and blocking any packet that contains some string of 'illegalMP3s.com'. But that would also block any site with a link to 'illegalMP3s.com'.

    The technical infeasability of this plan is absurd. Even if they did somehow manage to keep an accurate list of evil URL's, how could they block them without blocking everything on that IP?

    Why wasn't the Spec GPLed, it would have prevented this whole problem. Microsoft would have been forced to publish their changes.
    Just like when Mickeysoft ripped off php and made asp. The syntax for the two languages is virtaully identical. Where's the asp source code?
    Just like when Mickeysoft ripped off Mozilla and made Internet Explorer. MS sure did release a browser fast when Mr. Gates realized the internet was important. Where's the IE source code?
    I don't have any proof, but I bet there's all kinds of GPL'd source in Microsoft products. Now where's all that MS source code?

    In this economy you have have no reason to feel
    dirty at your job. People who can turn on a PC
    and launch Word are in high demand. If you're
    doing tech support I'm sure you're more knowledgeable than that. Go get a job you can feel more healthy about.

    If you're in NOVA with the rest of AOL there are tons of tech jobs. I live and work in Richmond
    and I get offers to move to NOVA occasionally.
    There are tons of tech jobs out there.

    If you make the funding of said colleges and Universities dependent on the amount of students who graduate you will only decrease the quality of education. Some students aren't fit for a high tech education and they should be weeded out of the program. You can't decrease quality just to increase quantity, that's ludicrous.
    I recently graduated from a 4 year major University with a degree in Computer Science. There were people in my major my freshman year who
    were only in it for the $$$$$$. They didn't have the patience, perserverence or drive to get their
    code in on time. So they failed. Tough shit.
    Kick them out I say.

    I order all my online books from fatbrain.com
    and I've never had any trouble finding anything I needed. Their interface is similar to Amazon's
    interface, although their database may not be as extensive as Amazon's.

    Yes, the United States is one of the few countries
    in the world that still has a proof of prior existence clause in its patent law. If someone can prove that they had this technology before Yahoo, then the Yahoo patent becomes irrelevent.

    What is up with NOVA(North VA for the uninitaited)
    every time I go there it leaves a bad taste in my
    mouth. It has to be the whitest, most uptight,
    anal retentive place on this earth. And the women
    are all homely lookin'. Here in Richmond, VA it's
    very chill. I configure and test networks for a
    fortune 500 for 41K US a year. Couldn't be happier. I could be making 50-60K in NOVA, but I
    wouldn't move there if someone put a gun to my head. I hate that place.

    chose to have their picture taken.
    The context of naked pictures of little girls on
    some random web page is sick.
    You're right there's nothing inherently pornographic or sick about the pictures. But there is something sick about the invasion of privacy of these girls. I'm not scared of the human body and I don't think its naked form is sick. But it sickens me to think that some chump with a cheap camera took pictures of some little girls on a nude beach somewhere and made $$$$ off of it.

    Eventhough I went to JMU and recently graduated you shouldn't bust on VCU. It's a very good liberal arts schools, and its art program is one
    of the best in the world. Its medical school MCV
    is also very good.
    People put down VCU all the time because it's located in downtown Richmond. They're just scared
    of going to one of the only schools in Virgina
    where white people don't make up over 50% of the
    population.

    It all depends what you're looking for in the end.
    And VCU is the most diverse school in Virginia.

    It's important for attrition.org to respond the
    way they did otherwise they would be assumed guilty(sad but true).
    This isn't just about kids calling kids names.
    People at attrition.org could have their actual
    lives affected(i.e. careers).
    We should all care when any news organization
    makes claims that are completely unfounded.
    To the uninitiated AntiOnline has much more
    credibility(again sad but true). As such when
    they say things about the 'computer underground'
    the uninitiated listen.

    Remember, 70% of all Internet servers, for example, are Apache (OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE!)
    and that means they are running either Unix or one of its various clones.


    Just because your running Apache doesn't mean you're running a *NIX. I use a version of Apache
    that runs on NT at work.

Companies hire immigrants either legally or illegally because it's cheaper. This country was founded by immigrants and immigration should not stop. Unless you are a descendant of a actual Native American you have absolutely no reason to complain whatsoever.
