Never use the player, but I still use a terrific Windows Media Center HP PC---I have cable routed into the back and one click brings me cable TV I can record. Works fine except if I program the wrong time! They killed that one, too.
""We want Microsoft Edge to be your favorite browser, with the fundamentals you expect -- speed, power efficiency, reliability, security"
Ho Ho Ho. I had to spend five minutes retrieving my password just to comment on that quote. Now who on Earth thinks Edge is their favorite browser. Raise your hands. We'll all wait. Meanwhile, I'll check out the new Chrome Beta.
It was a boring afternoon. This should prove entertaining.
Interesting thread. I don't have a lot of Apple experience, though I have tried a couple of iMacs (both went back.) No love for Windows though. I have a Win7 tower that runs flawlessly, and when it's dead I will go to...wait for it....Chrome OS. I have a Chromebook that I love, and my wife has a ChromeBox. True ease of use, and all my Googly stuff is right there.
"Daily links" is great for loading your favorite pages at once. A must. Save to Pocket, Nimbus Screenshot, and World Clocks are terrific.
I do wish I could find a credible weather extension tho.
OK, I did like House of Cards until it got too weird and that was that. But there really isn't a lot of great content unless you like Charlie Sheen's Major League or Will Farrell or Adam Sandler or old Croc Dundees. Thiiiiiiiiis close to cancelling.
Amazon Prime isn't any better, and I have that one too.
adjective, smugger, smuggest.
1.
contentedly confident of one's ability, superiority, or correctness; complacent.
I have a Windows HP Media Center PC that is coming up on year 5 in July and it works great. I take care of it, run scans every week, and know where everything is. In the past few years, I replaced the speakers from 2001 (finally), a new keyboard, and a new widescreen monitor. No intention of replacing it.
Sorry Phil, take your roadshow somewhere else. The days of frantically upgrading every two years are over.
Another major reason is the speed. So many web sites are so much faster with adds blocked. I am not talking about small change, but something that is clearly visible.
Right. Occasionally I'll see a "please disable your ad blocker" notice on sites that I like and that I use all the time. And I'll say, okay, that's reasonable, they have to make money to keep the lights on. So I'll disable the ad blocker and reload. Aaaand the site no longer loads, not even within (seriously) two full minutes. And so I say, if this is what it takes to keep the lights on, I'd be happier in the dark. So I turn the ad blocker off, and reload the same page, in milliseconds.
I don't get it. I have Win7---with Windows Media Center. Works great connected to cable TV, I watch the Giants games while I work. So they're killing that. Bravo.
If I want to watch The X Files, I pop Scully in the drive and there is Windows Media Player. You mean there's no Media Player in 10? How do I watch DVDs?
I still miss iGoogle. Used it every day of its existence..and them killing it moved me to Bing. I like the daily photo and they even do video sometimes (tho you won't see it on Firefox.) And I use the Bing desktop program, too- the same photo shows up. It's my personal statement against Google. I'll use your browser, but not your search or your email.
I've still got 10.7 on my Windows desktop. Made the crucial error of upgrading to the latest release. I would not advise this. Was able to roll back only after I moved the.ITL file or...something...to another folder or...something. Once in awhile it tosses up a "Out of space" error or..something. Which is of course nonsense as I have 1TB of space here with like 75% available.
I mean, come on.

there just isn't enough quality content to justify the cost. Croc Dundee, Robocop, Air Bud II,----come on, man.

oooooooo Prodigy. First Net experience. You always remember your first.
Yeah the *Sponsored* content is awful.

got a bad feeling about this
Good morning, gentlemen, the temperature is 110 degrees. Amazed at the lack of Top Gun references here today.
I think Cincy's # was 513 721 1700...called it all the time, for some reason.
"it works perfectly and in the most intuitive and revolutionary manner possible." Sounds like Fake Steve Jobs to me. #WIN

I have a fast PC and connection, and the load time for Amazon Cloud sites is VERY slow.

Dial up? 38 Kpbs? "You've got mail!" Ah, the 90s.
Outstanding. Clean, lean, and -no- clutter. Gmail is too bloaty.
