Yes...we must put the fileswappers and spammers in jail for eternity, but we can let out the sex offenders and murderers out early because of jail overcrowding. Considering two highly publicized killings happened by registered sex offenders in Florida recently, I think putting more people in jail for stupid stuff like this is a great idea!

yeah...what about all those people that bought software assurance back when SQL 2000 came out. I can't remember if there is a limit, but at the time it was 2-3 years, I think. Those people got screwed. And they can't pay upgrade price for 2005, they have to buy all new licenses, unless Microsoft makes some kind of concession since they couldn't deliver on a 2-3 year frame.

Not that they are required to have something out in that time frame.

  4. Re:Another Government Money Grab on Ohio Wants eBayers to Post $50k Bond · · Score: 1

Ohio already has the same tax law that requires you to pony up online purchases for sales tax like Virginia.

The Ohio Use Tax was developed in the early 1900's to make sure that sales tax was paid when you bought an ox cart from Pennsylvania to avoid state sales tax. In this modern age they've just applied it to online and out of state mail order.

I believe that it just recently started showing up on the yearly state income tax forms as a place to put your purchases. Before that it was just an obscure law in the tax code that actually required you to file your "use tax" quarterly, which no one did.

It's all marketing spin. Of course Apple is gonna optimize things to make it look better. It's not like noone has done it before.

It will also reinstall itself everytime you load up kazaa. The page desktop.kazaa.com that loads in Kazaa's browser installs BDE if it's not installed already. Check again. You can also add desktop.kazaa.com to your host file and point it to 127.0.0.1 so you don't have to load the page, it also speeds up kazaa a bit on connect.

With DVD players becoming standard fare, how long do you think this practice will last? I only have a DVD player (in the computer and actual standalone unit) so that means that I'm screwed if I actually want to buy a CD anymore. Guess that means I'll have to turn on-line to find music, and we're right back where we started from. These record execs don't seem to understand emerging technology at all.

that's because the doctor didn't tell him that his pupils are larger than what the laser currently is approved to do. Many doctors won't tell you, so they can get the money.

I have 7mm pupils in the average nightvision situation. The laser (in the states) is approved by the FDA to 6.5mm. That means when I'm driving late at night and the nightvision needs to work, if my pupil dialates that far then I get the "halo" effect. because you now have clear vision in the center, but not on the edges, hence the screwed up vision...can you say lawsuit?

e-mail me if you have any questions. My doctor actually told me not to have the surgery because of that.

Unfortunately for my vision is slightly worse than that. It should cost about the same as LASIK.

  16. what about the parents on Why Kids Kill · · Score: 1

People are so quick to make comments and blame things like doom, and quake, and "Natural Born Killers", or "The Basketball Diaries" (seen that clip more than the killers clip)

But what noone ever thinks about, is that maybe the parents are to blame! If the parents were to pay attention to what their kids were doing, then maybe their kids would be less psychopathic (I know the stats are low, but damn when these things happen they dominate the news and everyone thinks that young people are psychopaths.)

How can those two kids basically run a bomb factory right out of their homes without their parents knowing about it? That's my question, and how did they find time to do that?? In between viewings of the basketball diaries, and games of quake II with their clan???

The media shouldn't be so quick to blame computers or the internet...remember it's the parents that allow kids to use the net or play these games, or watch these movies. And if you're not gonna pay attention to your kids, or if they lose their novelty after 10 yrs old, then do the world a favor, and sterilize yourself.

    damn...sorry so long
