What about a crate of magnets sitting below the compass? Not the kind you draw circles with, but the kind you use to navigate. Would that be fine as well?
I'm a bit confused by this analogy. How are the religious beliefs of an inventor assoiciated to their field of expertise? Is religion a significant theme in the book? It just strikes me as a bit of an odd way to open the review of a book about the father of the chronometer...
Nit: "Catholic" is capitalized
Religion has nothing to do with this. Small-c "catholic" means broad-minded.
Impotence: NO can initiate erection of the penis by dilating the blood vessels to the erectile bodies. This knowledge has already led to the development of new drugs against impotence.
If you are a service bureau, forward all requests to be removed from a list to the company on whose behalf you are calling. Its is that company that is legally liable under the TCPA, not the service bureau. The "do not call" request must also be honored by any affiliate or subsidiary of the company if there is a reasonable expectation on the part of the consumer that there request would apply also to the affiliate or subsidiary.
Debian is very, very careful to separate out the non-free software from the official distribution. Programs like the GIMP will have both free and non-free packages available. The free package is fully operational, except for GIF and TIFF support, for which you will have to download the non-free add-on (at your own legal risk). Only the free stuff is included in the official CD-ROM images. Read the Debian Social Contract for more information.
I find it interesting that hardly anyone said anything nice about the old logo back when Bruce Perens chose it. Now that ol' blue eyes is on its way out, people are saying how much they liked it and how much better it is than the swirl.

Here's an article with pic of the police displaying the confiscated "War on Terror" boardgame. Here's the BBC version.

Why would the O'Reilly Open Source Convention, organized by Tim O'Reilly, not allow Tim O'Reilly to be one of the panelists?
The Palm is such a great platform for interactive fiction. Why limit yourself to just reading? Go get pilot-frotzfrobnitz and some text adventures.
They already did, in 1998, to Robert F. Furchgott, Louis J. Ignarro and Ferid Murad "for their discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signalling molecule in the cardiovascular system". From the press release:

I say, sue em!
RTFW - the links are there. The links are there, why don't you click on them?
Can you imagine a Beowulf cluster of these?

So why are you still here? Shouldn't you already be hiding out in the hills somewhere?
Man, it's gotten so that people can't recognize facetious comments without a smiley.
Lighten up guys!
