I have not seen another record label with anywhere near as many great artists all recording under one roof. Alejandro Escovedo, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, the Old 97's (actually, they've moved on now), Split Lip Rayfield, the list goes on and on.... If you haven't heard of these bands, you are missing out! And I think their CD's are fairly cheap if you order direct. Go there and learn where the innovation is at.
Plus, the president of the company, Steve Reichenbach, was the chair of the Computer Science department at the school I attended. (University of Nebraska). Very, very smart man.
A friend of mine has it; it is the only flight simulator to simulate every aspect of combat flight, AFAIK. It actually has a full control panel, which can make it extremely difficult to play, unless you happen to have a pilot's license. The manual that comes with it looks like a novel. Anyway, the combat missions are extremely realistic, and can change depending on whether you screw up. It is definitely not for the casual game player.
I am not sure in what way you are even arguing with what I said. Read what you just spouted:
He is talking about businesses and businesses never give away something for nothing. If they give you a free OS they are going to want to make money on packaging, shipping, support, etc. Basically whatever they can make money on because they are a BUSINESS
You need to be more aware of your own conclusions. You are saying that Open Source is a business. No kidding! Open Source competes with Closed Source because of this very obvious fact: because its proponents wish to make a living off of their talents as developers, like any normal human being would. So in that sense, open source based businesses are essentially the same as closed source based ones.
What Microsoft was saying was that their form of business needs to be protected from the open source type of business. This is a flawed perspective in that Microsoft is claiming that their type is superior while simultaneously displaying their fear of their competitors' business model.
I know it was hard to understand my previous post. I'll try not to use so many big words next time.
Jim Allchin, the company's Windows operating-system chief, was quoted by Bloomberg News earlier this year as saying: "Open source is an intellectual-property destroyer. I can't imagine something that could be worse than this for the software business and the intellectual-property business." He added, "I'm an American, I believe in the American Way. I worry if the government encourages open source, and I don't think we've done enough education of policy-makers to understand the threat."
Translation: I support a laissez-faire business model. For me. But please shut down our competitors.
I heard this company, Microsoft, actually makes software that runs these games natively, without the need for an additional support layer! *slaps forehead* - I wonder if anyone knows about these guys!!!!
At some point, the effort of continually altering our windowing systems in order to play another game that was designed to run under Windows becomes greater than the effort required to simply install Windows and reboot the machine. Yes, I realize that WINE does not require a copy of Windows to run; that is what makes it such a headache to get working. I actually tried to run Lotus Notes with it one time. It worked. It was sad.
2. Most dumbshit moderators only read posts that are at least 2 or 3. So when wasting their mod points, they only have a very limited amount of trash to choose from.
What makes you think that the drug companies' patents SHOULD be able to be enforced internationally? The entire world does not consist of one government; there still are borders if you hadn't noticed. If Brazil thinks that the idea of patents on pharmaceuticals is becoming harmful to their society, they have a right to decide not to participate. It's as simple as that.
Why doesnt someone give this a point?

Man i wish i had some mod points. That is really god damn funny. Why the hell does everyone mod up the same type of comments in every article? Come on, all of those comments that get 5's - they aren't THAT good.
Seanbaby is not responsible for Fat Chicks in Party Hats. It would seem that you are among the large group who mistake all of the affiliates of the Portal of Evil website as being one large site. While Seanbaby's site is probably on the same server, and he does provide a link to this other site that offends you, he is in no way responsible for its content. Really, i think you are probably smart enough to know this, but you said:
Seanbaby was/is known for a portion of his site called "Fat Chicks in Party Hats".
I think what you are trying to do is what so many people are doing: bashing Katz no matter what comes out of his mouth. You should read Seanbaby again, too. It really is not a hateful website.
I don't think it's necessarily because they've never tried it. With some it may be, but for me at least, staring at a monitor for long periods of time gives me a headache and hurts my eyes. Believe me, if you stare at a monitor for 8 hours at work and then go home and read off of a monitor, even if it is a Palm Pilot, your vision is going to suffer sooner or later.
If i was going to copy and "republish" DVD's, as the court accused Pavlovich of doing, why the hell would i want to use DeCSS? Am i supposed to decrypt the data, dump it to my hard drive, re-encrypt it, and write it back to a DVD? I don't even think that's possible, but even if it were, why wouldn't i just use a method that copied the content AS IT IS on the original?
DeCSS, as far as pirating tools go, is a terrible one. BECAUSE IT IS NOT A PIRATING TOOL.
When you post to a community message board, you have an identity as a member of a community. This is the entire point of creating an alias to use in an internet discussion board. What you do is you attempt to create a persona, which has nothing to do with your actual identity, as a person who only says really intelligent, useful things. This is what is false and cowardly about an AC. You want to flame someone because it is in your nature, but you don't want your fake online personality to suffer. It is none of your business who I am, but at least you might know what my opinions really are like.
Of course, you don't want people around here to know how you REALLY feel, right? It's pretty easy to flame without actually responding to anyone's comments if no one knows it was you, i guess. Then you probably posted something glaringly obvious above somewhere and got 5 karma points and a big erection, right?
They are still presenting the paper as planned. The RIAA's letter was basically ignored by them. I think this may be a real slap in the face for them. I'm just glad they didn't back down.
Actually, what happened is that a petty crime was committed by a small company, and this annoyed someone, and they sued for a small amount. The award of $50 certainly won't put anyone's name in lights, and is just compensation for what was really only a minor nuisance perpetuated by Kozmo.
Well then, if you go and do that in California, you are guilty of spamming someone and could owe them some money. And rightfully so, too. You shouldn't use a technical letter as an excuse to send people advertisements - it's too easy for big companies to come up with something they just "really, really needed to tell you" so that they can hurl ads at your e-mail. Remember too that the person in question specifically stated upon entering an agreement with Kozmo that she did not wish to receive ANY messages from them.
I realize that this is a really old topic right about now, but did you note that Schmeiser only sprayed around the periphery of his property? In other paragraphs, he stated that he did not in fact spray his crop with this type of herbicide. He still does not. So what I was saying was not contradicted; he still does not really benefit from having Roundup resistant plants. (since he only sprays Roundup on plants he WANTS to die)
That's not really what happened. In the full court's decision, it comes up several times that this man does not spray Roundup on his crops. So he could not possibly give a shit whether his crops are resistant to Roundup or not. (Except that Monsanto cares, so he has to).
Intelligent, thought-provoking, emotionally engaging...

I guarantee you that anything that comes from there is all three of those things.
You're exactly right. Just look at the Business Software Alliance as an example of what the RIAA would like to become.

It's +4 funny because:
1. Some moderator thought the post was funny
2. Most dumbshit moderators only read posts that are at least 2 or 3. So when wasting their mod points, they only have a very limited amount of trash to choose from.

Hey, dumb ass moderator! This was in no way off topic. There is no way you can justify that! Open up your f***ing eyes!
Actually, what happened is that a petty crime was committed by a small company, and this annoyed someone, and they sued for a small amount. The award of $50 certainly won't put anyone's name in lights, and is just compensation for what was really only a minor nuisance perpetuated by Kozmo.
Well, normally you'd be right, but in this case, Kozmo e-mailed her directly. So they are the only ones who could be blamed.
Well then, if you go and do that in California, you are guilty of spamming someone and could owe them some money. And rightfully so, too.
