yeah, last year it was supposed to be a two location event (CA and KY), and house about 10,000 people. Of course actually attendance fell way short, so they limited the plans this year. I have to tell you though, if you ever get the chance to attend lanwar or millionman lan, burden & co. throw one hell of a lan party. You barely notice the sponsors, as they spend most of their time playing games right along side you, and giving out free shit :-) Last year I got a geforce 3, some kick ass Altec Lansing speakers, and friends got a Athlon XP2000+ and a geforce 4ti4600 respectively. Everyone has a great time.

    A) MillionManLan is just really large lanwar, which was started, and continues, in Louisville.

    B) Louisville does have a Six flags, and a minor league baseball team or two if you really want to get out for a while.

    C) It's a lan party, not a family vaction. 98% of the attendies are between the ages of 16 and 24 or so.

    D) It's a central location in the US, so more ppl can attend.

    D) Your there to play games!

    E) I've been to a few lanwars, and the first mml. They totally kick ass, and there really is no reason to leave. ever. period. I wish I could be there right now with a couple of my really good friends, but I haven't earned enough vaction time at work yet to get a few days off and drive down.

Yeah, same here. It was time for my dad to get a new machine (the k6-2/300 was getting to crusty for him). Fist I suggested a Mac, but after looking at the Apple store a minute it was clear he was completely unwilling to spend that much. I ended up building him a a box (XP2400+, 512MB DDR333, 40GB HD, USB2, 6.1 sound, geforceFX 5200, dvd, cdrw, etc) for just over $400. Until apple can compete with reasonable specs at a low price, the home user (or maybe just my dad) will be using PC's.
