I am pretty sure that the North Korean government does not provide the US government access to email stored on their servers.
Yeah, but they probably would to the Chinese government, who in turn will sell it to some general's company on the side, who will then spam the ever-loving shit out of you until eternity. All in Chinese, of course, making it even more useful. The other stupid as shit spammers tend to come from Russia. Do they _really_ think anyone outside of Russia or former Soviet bloc nations speaks Russian?
Are you sure you're always communicating with people that live in countries with privacy laws that are just as secure? Unless you're really good about keeping your contacts secure as well, all it means is that they have to issue more subpoenas.
This brings up a point - I wouldn't be at all surprised if data isn't routinely sent out of the country for analysis and decryption to countries who have no laws against such things.
I think that unless it comes with a seperate numpad, this is going to fall flat on its face. The tactile response of the keyboard may be nice (assuming they use individual switches for each key), but the lack of keys will make it close to useless.
Slightly O/T, but in a related vein, is there a good political blog for intelligent people where stuff like this should be posted? At least something with some kind of good moderation system and user base, ideally that isn't too slanted?
Yeah, it's standing over there behind unicorn.org.
It's only an 'obvious' right-wing spin if you completely discount the part about the guy being hired by the current DEMOCRATIC President. You DO remember he's a Democrat, right? Both parties are to blame for this mess; the Democrats just put a better spin on their corruption. You'll notice fuck-all was done about Wall Street during the two years the Democrats had control of the White House _and_ both houses of Congress.
With over 460 comments, I'm not sure the original author will see this, but here it goes:
Start with Tom Baker, by far the best doctor ever. Cheesy special effects, but that version of the Doctor is the pinnacle of Doctor-ness. He also had most of the best companions.
Continue with Peter Davidson if you must, who got better stories and slightly better special effects, but who was an irritating git of a Doctor, and who had the most-irritating companion ever, Teagan.
Then you may safely skip forward to the new Doctor Who shows that started in 2005.
I'd rather just have really dark grey on light grey. It doesn't need to be the same as paper, but it needs to be way better than it is now. Plus much better resolution for better letter forms (at least double in each axis).
Well, perhaps not a 'super-high' contract, but I'd like to see another major boost to the contrast from where it's at now. It's now 'mostly-dark grey on light grey'. I'd rather see REALLY dark grey on light grey. Plus the resolution needs to increase a lot - the letter forms are pretty terrible at SVGA.
While reading on an eInk device may not affect you any differently than reading paper (which I'm sure is subjective), the screens are still _vastly_ inferior to reading paper due to the horrible contrast ratio. My Kindle 3 is 'good enough', but nowhere near where I want it to be.

Ah, true. Fortunately I can and have donated other ways. This doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me thus far.

Wind. Fire. That kind of thing.

Chinese whispers - storage style. Impressively cunning non the less.
Well, more conning than cunning.
It's a "one-demon bag". :)

Commodore 64 had no numpad, therefore this one wouldn't, either. Most laptops don't have numpads, either, and they're outselling desktops.
No screen, Lame.
Same goes for a Mac Mini, and that's a pretty big seller.

What part of 'Comodore 64' did you not get?
How do you like 'dem apples?
Back in 1981, I was programming for a company with a 64K CPM computer with a Hazeltine monitor. Life was great.
64K in 1981? Holy crap, that was the hotness!
Absolutely. I have to be careful to make sure I'm not drinking anything whenever someone calls Obama a 'Progressive'.

Good thing he specifically said he didn't want to use it as a phone, then, eh?

We all did, but once we grow up, we have to realize that not every problem can be solved by liberal application of the Spread Gun.
Though I'll admit it's at least worth trying.
In the immortal words of Jack Burton, "You never know till you try!"
Duh, everyone knows that you can solve that problem with counter-rotating flywheels.
Oh no, I've already had enough of this "Contras will fix everything" philosophy.
I loved that game as a kid.
Don't you realise your crackpot flywheel plan could slow down the planet's rotation until we all FRY!?!
Think of the children.
The easy solution to that is to destroy the Sun, which I'm pretty sure we've been yearning to do since the dawn of time.
It's so simple, when you just take the time to THINK about it. Geez.

What does Egypt have to do with Radiation?
Water, of course, is a great shielding material, if you have enough of it. Hence, de Nile.
