You know a product is good if competitors start shaking in their boots running to government agencies for protections!
If that were the case, IE would be the best browser ever made.:)
You DO know that they're scared, though, if they have to trash it like this. You _should_ be scared if Microsoft enters your segment with a free product. It may not be the best, but that's never stopped Microsoft from crushing competitors in the past.

That's not really a fair argument. After all, who ever died from not smoking?
I know I didn't! See, that's 100% of respondents right there.

Seriously, why can't people just mind their own business?
It's not surprising that someone arguing in favor of smoking is having a hard time understanding that smoking doesn't impact ONLY the smoker. Sure is disappointing, though.
Wasn't their solution for 95/98/ME not to authenticate in the first place? I seem to remember just clicking "Cancel" on the login prompt let you into the computer.
Of course its like nothing you've ever seen. Its completely unnecessary. I've never seen a car with built-in centrifuge.. doesn't mean they should make one.
Dude, that's a brilliant idea! You've solved the age old problem of peanut butter separation in automobiles. You'll get the Nobel for this. Well-done, sir.
If you have an Android-based phone, Vista supports user-initiated remote crashing with a third-party tool.
That Microsoft, always thinking ahead and innovating the features users really want! You don't see Linux with that feature! I hope Microsoft patents the hell out of that so noone else can use it.
Windows 95/98/ME had a built-in solution to this problem, but MS removed it in the Win 2K and newer. They simply had the machine crash every 2 hours. Heavy handed, sure, but it worked.
He helped the FBI to expose the price-fixing scheme of his company and served his time. Assuming someone is inspecting his work, what more do you want from the guy?
A better movie about his story?
Just joking - I haven't seen it, and Soderbergh is a cinematic god.
Okay, so the real problem is people running an 'insecure' _platform_. This includes more than the browser. Now, IE8 running on an updated Vista or Win 7 machine is one thing, but earlier platforms are much more likely to have unpatched bugs in the OS, which seems like a much more serious security issue than Frame installed in IE, especially older versions of IE like 6, so this is really just classic MS misdirection. By not providing standards updates for IE 6, _knowing_ that many people can't/won't upgrade their OS to something that can handle IE >6, AND by not making newer versions of IE capable of running on OS versions older than XP, they have created this problem themselves. It's great that Google is stepping up to the plate. I can see why MS is desperate to use misdirection; they don't HAVE any other solution to the issue.
But I (like many others here) have spent weeks and months trying to work around Microsoft products' shortcomings, and this kind of hypocrisy is making me angry.
Wait... does this mean I can no longer stuff a sock in my shorts without wearing a t-shirt that states, "Disclaimer: the package below may have been artificially altered to appear larger than in real life"?
Just wear one that says, "Contents may settle during shipping."
Let's apply that to people who wear makeup, as well. Especially those stupid fake moles. Lame.
And shoulder pads, high heels, lifts, toupees, coloured contacts.
Truth, we demand the truth!
Oh, but let's keep letting politicians lie on the floor of the House and Senate about death panels, etc. Yeah, that's okay, because it's "free speech".
PHB: Hmmm, Bob is making over $X. I see he's the most productive, but we could higher two new grads and an intern for the same amount. They'd be at least that productive right?
Ahh, PHBs. Good thing they hire real people, who can spell the word 'hire'.:)

Never underestimate the the ability of someone on Slashdot to miss even the most obvious of jokes.

The kill switch only applies to the android market (not the PERFECTLY LEGIT alternate markets) for apps that violate its terms of service.
What about when those same apps are available from the other markets?
...is an app that disables the Android kill switch.
FREEDOM!
I'll post this preemptively since usually when battery fires are discussed some people insist this is unavoidable if you want a high energy density
Too late. You posted emptively.

Technically, they have succeeded. IE 7 and 8 are more complaint.
No. They are more compliant. IE users and web developers are more complaint. :)

They have friends, much less family?
Hitler liked dogs. :)
I wonder what percentage of IE6 users have the authority to install an ActiveX control on their system.
But I (like many others here) have spent weeks and months trying to work around Microsoft products' shortcomings, and this kind of hypocrisy is making me angry.
We don't like you when you're angry.
IE6 has a security model?
Sure. Keep in mind, it *is* only a model.

Hail Yes!
