Or regular IMAX theatres. I believe we've got two screens, possibly three, over at Empire 12, and Famous Players is building another couple of screens in it's new multiplex it's building. The one good thing about living on the east coast of Canada when it comes to film;`)

You see that episode of North of 60. MMMmmmmm, Mamoth stew.;`)
Well if you like that, check out 'Evil Dead' and 'Evil Dead 2'. They've got the action at night / lull in the day type scenario. Then watch Army of Darness (Evil Dead 3 in everything but name) to finish things off. Couple weeks ago a bunch of us had a day long Evil Dead marathon... (which for some reason we ended by watching 'Seven', just cause we had plenty of time and it was there). I'd never seen ANY of them before. Now THOSE are good movies!
Ugh, they woldn't have made it past the first few episode before their budget for the year would have been used up! Didn't they have to pay royalties of some kind to the people who own the rights to the films they played? How much do you think a big budget feature film would have cost compared to the cheap, low budget movies no ones heard of in years (if ever). But come now, havn't you ever gone to a movie with a bunch of friends, sat in the front row and MSTy it? We do it all the time over here!
Bah! The horrible lack of MST3K in Canada is admittedly atrocious (though I think out in parts of Alberta there's some station that carries it). MST is a redeeming item for the Yanks in my eyes. I have but one line of wisdom of which I think we all can share in it's simple elegance...
>Interesting how Ontario judges a "majority >government". It seems in ontario not all votes >are equal. In an after election tally, 55% of >the population voted against the present >government.
That's total popular vote. The way our provincial elections work is each Riding has an Member of the Legislative Assembly. I don't know how many ridings are in Ontario, but here in Nova Scotia (Fresh off a recent election that put the tories in power, with a majority. It's not the grit win I wanted, but t least the freakin NDP didn't get in!) we've got 52. When a party wins over half of the seats in the Legislative Assembly, it's a clear majority victory. Things get a little tricky when you're under a minority government, less than half the seats are under the control of the governing party, so getting unpopular but neccesary legislation though can take some wheelin' and dealin' and such. McKlellen and the NS liberals found that out the hard way a month or two back with the budget being defeated and the election being forced.
My brother has what he describes as "the little black and white TV with the most cable in the city". 50+ channels on a B/W set. He insists on watching X-Files on it for the atmosphere, even when one of the other sets in the house are available.
Well DUH! Why bother throw away the big money when you can just mooch off someone else! That's what I love about this country, it's moocher's heaven!(except for the taxes)
-Universal healthcare paid through our taxes. -Guaranteed military security from our allies who LIKE to throw the big money into fancy guns. -unemployment insurrance + pogy -government grants for homegrown music / film production (my brother nabbed I think it was 6 grand towards a film he was doing with his friend because his friend was like 1/16th)
Um, not quite. I suppose outside of metro Halifax/Dartmouth in Nova Scotia you're screwed, but ADSL is DEFINITLY available in NS. I know 4 people with their crappy 'mPowered' ADLS connections, while I and 5 others I know have the infinitly better 'Wave' cable connections. Of course, 'Wave' is only available where Accesscable offers services, so people across the harbor in Halifax with ?Eastlink Cablevision? I think... they're stuck with their slower 'Andara' cable systems. Goota love choice;`)
I've got my brother's old TP 1.0 disks (originals) kicking round somewhere. I've never used it... started out with v6.0 personally. Only thing I ever really wrote was a Yahtzee game... Took the cheap way with some non-standard, warned against properties...
But I'm guessing it would have taken a LOT longer to happen if the US weren't fronting it. I'm loath to give the Yanks credit, but I'm fair and give it where it's due. Many good things have come out of the US's love affair with "neet military stuff". The internet's one of em. I say let them keep footing the bill to develop this stuff and when it goes from the military to the private sector we all just mooch off their tech;`)
Because many in the Amiga community have a (somewhat understandable) loathing of the x86 platform. Look at all the criticism and discontent at even just the initial deelopment platform for the AmigaNG being x86 based.
Specifically on that %100 testing of iMacs to make sure they worked right directly out of the box. My question is, why don't they (or any other manufacturer for that matter) do this for ALL their lines? If it's economical to do this with one line of computers, it seems likely to be economical, and beneficial all around, to implement this amount of testing.
Do the words "First Post" ring a bell? Even if it's just in the jovial fashion I took it for (as it must have really been the 15th or 20th) someone glancing through the post subjects would automatically label you troll. If I were a moderator just now I might have knocked you down as well. There are some things you just don't joke about on here and expect much sympathy about.
Could always get those machines with BeOS pre-installed, thus getting a free liscence.:) Remember, Be gives the OS away for free to anyone who'll pre-install it.
>2) It's free. I think we all know how much that matters. Freedom from licensing fees make a huge difference.
Not quite. Didn't the complany who originally created it (Fraunhofer Gesellschaft) start requesting liscencing fees from people putting out mp3 encoders. Even though they submitted it to MPEG, and their format was approved and titled MPEG Audio Layer 3, they still legally own a lot of the rights surrounding the format.

Simple! Just have the US military get word of the mystery of the missing students and they nuke the woods.

Sucks to be you!
Over here in Halifax/Dartmouth we've had competition between cable and ADSL for almost *2* full years now!

True for the 'classic' systems, but this is a whole new hardware/software architecture here bearing the Amiga name.

It was a beta for Unix in general, and I believe it hasn't been updated since then.

I find that Team !Userfriendly! is #4.
;'>
Everything equals four. Trust me.
Then the ever present contest between Quebec and the rest of Canada is brought to the forefront, with Canada pulling in #50 and Quebec at #58.
And The Knights Who Say Ni! are on the board at #69 (hmm...)
I'm REALLY tempted to create Team486... my current estimate is it'll take me about 1000 hours to finish the first packet (I'm 200 hours into it)
Glad to be a Canuck!
