I need this with the state of rural broadband in Canada being as poor as it is. With Netflix's track record of introducing services in the US first and a shittier version everywhere else whenever they get around to it, I'm not holding my breath.
My wireless provider is a ravening control freak about the software I can run on my phone. I don't want to think what they'd do to my PC. I'd love an unlocked, open smartphone like the Atrix though.
I bought a new Yamaha 'Home Theatre' receiver a few weeks ago. Took it home and plugged it in and it wouldn't do this and it wouldn't do that so I returned it. Told the customer service folks at the store that it didn't do what I wanted and that I wanted my money back.
The electronics manufacturers and retailers won't be pleased about an avalanche of returns due to restrictive DRM forced on them by the content industry. I'd like to see retailers post disclaimers along the lines of, "This equipment will not..." to reduce returns (and sales).
In cases where the electronics and content industries overlap (Sony) it's probably less effective.
I'm not sure what constitutes a 'decent' resolution but the Unibrain Fire-i [unibrain.com] caps at 640x480p at 30 fps and is pretty cheap. I few months ago I would have recommended Apple's iSight but I understand it's been discontinued. They both connect to the box with 1394 instead of USB which I suspect will be a plus with something as timing sensitive as this. They use this lib [sourceforge.net] not any of the camcorder stuff.
You could use the noise reduction filter in something like Audacity. You highlight a section of the file that has no talking to take a profile of the noise. Then apply to the entire file.
There's a great "nerd supplies" shop on Yonge St. between Dundas and Gerrard on the west side called Hairy Tarantula. It's on the second floor so keep your eyes peeled for the doorway.
Also try the Silver Snail on Queen west around Peter Street. The anime DVDs and tapes are on the second floor.
chrid fucked up. Then chrisd apologized. If I had made this mistake and a zillion people jumped down my throat I would feel like shit and I bet chrisd does. Leave the guy alone.
As is traditional with us, my gf and I exchange gifts a month or so early to avoid that Chistmas morning consumerism hangover.
This year I lobbied hard for a Lian Li aluminium PC case and got it. Let me tell you it's pretty sweet. Very easy on the eyes and my case temp went down considerably.

That's it. Just thanks.

They're an enormous waste of energy and trees. I can't remember the last time I kept on longer than the walk from the front door to the recycle bin.
Yes/No

IANADJ but I found the film Scratch to be very informative. It's also well made IMO.
Think of the kittens
In other news the chocolate ration has been raised to 25 grammes!

The interview wasn't bad considering the cirumstances. I read it right through.

Now my PC and Canon S100 match!
