Amen brother! Im in the EXACT same situation except my whole family (10 boxen) are sharing a 28.8 erols dialup since I couldn't proxy the one way cable modem:-( Arggh!!!
Well at least they didn't hand it off to Jon Romer-blo. After the umm... well published disaster that was Daikatans, the Looking Glass fans wouldn't stand for him working on something so near and dear to them. Obviously Specter knows what he's doing because Deus Ex owns but Ion had better tread softly with the Thief property or the fan backlash will be legion! Just my $0.02
What do you see as the biggest threat to Microsoft in the future. IE someone that could to to Microsoft what Napster has been doing to the record industry? Love the column, keep up the good work. - Vice
This is a moot point. Any cracker worth their salt is going to be behind so many machines that attacking back will be impossible without some for-real research and tracking. Just my $0.02.
Sure this is going to be moderated down. Rob, I think your great but ya really need to learn how to spell 'character'. Maybe hit that spell check button before submitting?:-)
Excellent points! I couldn't agree more. At the risk of becoming flaimbait - Windows Media Player sounds better, crashes less often, doesn't have any god-forsaken ads stuck in my face, and... as far as I know.. doesn't send private information back to M$.
This is becoming real annoying! How long till we have banner ads stapled to our forheads so that when we look in the mirror we can read about the latest sale?!?!?
Bill Joy of Sun Microsystems has a fantastic ariticle in the April issue of Wired (which was also mentioned on Slashdot) about future technology and talks alot about nanotech... specifically covers topics you mention. Highly recommended!!!
Hey.. Rob, I was thinking of trying that very same keyboard despite the somewhat prohibitive cost. Would you recomend using? I'de wrather keep using my regular mouse if that's possible - maybe mount it seperately on the chair itself... Any thoughts?
This was a horrible 3 hour music video with little clarity about anything. Lack of any NFL licensing made the cheesiness worse, too. Two thumbs way down...
I love to have cool names for servers (mine is Mr. Server (Like Mr. Coffee)) but in large companies it's totally impracticle. On large wans they should denote server type and location. For example: NTPA01 is an NT box in Pennsylvania number one. Boring but it makes more sense then logging into Zeus and not knowing where the hell it is, IMHO;-)
Excellent argument. If only the rest of the story comments were articulated this well.

At least you can get broadband service!!! Don't complain!!!!

What's wrong with Bruce? He's great!!

Will this really be competitive with Celeron and will the Durons be as finicky with memory as Athons???

So what do we call it? The OuterNet?
What about XML? This is a key technology and companies need to get on their horsey to catch up with M$ in supporting it. Just my $0.02
To that ;-)

Good Luck
Yeah, but free beer is still good beer ;-)
Kills time at work ;-)
Well... you managed to shit on GiS for the week Rob wasn't there. Way to go. That's when I turned off your show.
Nate is funny as hell and we should hear more of him!!! Nate: Can you do that and still mix???
Amen to that!

Forget about a 1 GHZ processor. It is too expensive and would drive the retail price of what will be a "set-top" box wayyyy too high.
