You can download more search engines for the FF search field, but Yahoo is installed by default. For instance, I regularly switch from Google to Amazon and Wikipedia. I also have a German dictionary installed.
However, I think it's good that Yahoo is making a FF toolbar. It's just a sign of Firefox's acceptance in the market--that's a good thing.
Then they announced I'd pretty much have to buy the shit I already own on their proprietary bullshit UMD format.
Who says you
have to? No one's forcing you.
And being a portable gaming system, surely you didn't expect to be able to pop in your regular DVDs without problems. They make portable DVD players for that--those things aren't exactly handheld either.
Video is very cycle intensive. Look at the amd and intel benchmarks for video. Intel always wins because their clockspeed is faster. The 1.25 ghz mac mini isnt going to cut it.
Hey, I watch video just fine on my lowly 850 MHz computer with 384 MB RAM. All codecs. (Usually the only problems I run into is WMP requiring 11ty billion MB of RAM just to run) I'm sure the 1.25 GHz Mac Mini will have no problems. Needs more RAM though.
It has been my 'default' browser off and on since 0.7, but speed/memory is something I always hated about Mozilla.
When FF came out, it was just faster in every department and my computer had no problems running it. With the built-in Google search, I didn't have ot download Google search bar extension.
Bought up, and eventually controlled. They're not the owner in name only. Everything still has to be approved by GM. Many of the different European brands share platforms with American models. The new Chevy Aveo is a rebadge Daewoo. The new Pontiac GTO is a rebadged Holden Monaro.
The Hotmail example is a bad one, as MS eventually took over Hotmail development. So they in fact, did own and control Hotmail.
I used my Handspring for like a month and never picked it up again. As a planner, it wasn't better than paper. And I found myself missing all the cool/fun features found in PocketPC devices like MP3/AVI playback, and Word and Excel compatibility.
I see a Science channel working along these lines. As long as the programming is interesting (instead of dry facts reminiscent of old science projector films). They have to somehow create popular appeal, while still retaining some hardcore science programs. Like history, science *is* interesting. In fact, some of the programs would probably report on feuds and drama in the history of science.
Agreed. Hard to copy, easy to verify fakes, and feels like paper... Plastic notes is the future! If the US was REALLY serious, the next generation of notes (after these 'fancy' colored ones) should be plastic.
A lot like gun safety laws. It only stops the law abiding citizens from purchasing guns. Criminals will get their guns regardless--they don't purchase it through the system.
This article really highlights the ignorance and prejudice prevalent on Slashdot. Get off your soapbox about patents, file formats, open source, and corporations. RTFA and then comment.

A New Look For Firefox

Yeah,I could never get used to Mozilla's default theme. Qute was a big reason why I stuck with FireFox after switching from IE. Like you said, it's just felt "right." It felt like a native Windows program.
Why, eye candy of course. That's what every new Windows release requires.

He took down the blogs in question--rightly so.

As the head of SCE, damn right he thinks letting the iPod become number 1 is a mistake. That's what happens when you have a conglomerate.
IMO, Sony is the only other company that can topple the iPod because it has the money to design stylish electronics.
Must be a record! (The other was regarding the Cell)

Teams usually don't hire athletes for their ability to work well in a team. Look at the Lakers.

Same here. I write my dates YYYY-MM-DD. It just makes much more sense.
I also hate when countries use DD-MM-YYYY. This makes absolutely no sense. It's like sorting people by first names.

They ultimately approve the specifications, so they're responsible for why the filesystem is the way it is.
IE is free. You can download it for free off of MS's site. More baseless rants against MS.

Indeed. Think of a "How things work" channel!

:(
I wish I was able to mod up the parent.

DNG is a good thing.
I wish I had mod points, because I'd mod the parent down for such an idiotic petty nit-picking statement.
My Nokia screen died on me pretty much after 1 year. Never dropped it.
What Nokia needs to do is make more CDMA phones. Verizon has the ugliest selection of phones ever.

The best alternative to the crap they play on KUBE and KISS. Too bad reception is horrible outside of Seattle.
