And you're missing my point on purpose -- saying that someone isn't a victim because they're a victim too often is to ignore valid complaints. Just because someone cries wolf more than once doesn't negate the existence of the wolf.
Oh, I understand how argument works -- AC is dragging out the old argument that we don't need to listen to someone's complaints because they're victimized more than other people. It's the same tired excuse that defenders of biggots have always relied on.
Maybe if you spent a little less time being condescending ass on the internet, you'd notice that this pattern is neither new nor a valid argument.
The small sub-section of Professional Victims who love to always complain should take a hike for once.
It's almost like there's a reason some people are victimized more than others. But no, let's blame the victims instead of the people causing the harm, because it's easier to be an Internet Contrarian (TM) than to actually think about the issues.
And adopting and modifying GTK-3 seems like a battered woman going back to her abusive husband... The FSF has a sorry track record of destroying everything they touch, and the GPLv3 getting forced on all their software is making individuals and companies run for the hills at a record pace.
You can't blame FSF for what happened to GTK3. Besides, GTK3 is licensed under LGPL 2.
No, if you want to point fingers at GTK3, blame the developers. Also note that GTK's developers do all their work from the command line -- not exactly the people you want designing a GUI toolkit.

Even if you aren't fazed by its quirky workflow, GIMP is buggy as hell and based on a toolkit that's no longer maintained.
I hope this isn't because Wayland is that bad, but rather because the Gnome team has learned some lessons about removing the stuff that works and putting in stuff that is not ready for prime time yet.
At the risk of stating the obvious, prepare to have your hopes crushed.
Only a handful of religions really have a problem with gay people. But so what? It's not like business should allowed to discriminate against religious people or gay people. If certain people don't get along that's not something you solve by letting businesses bully certain minority groups.
It's not like business exists in some kind of vacuum where one can't hurt others in the community. You can argue that it was "anti-business" to require BP to clean up all the oil they spilled, but I'm sure there's an entire industry of fisherman who would disagree.
That's the wrong question to be asking. Driving is dangerous enough already -- the right question to ask is what study proves that this type of technology is safe to use while driving.
Glade for GTK+ produces XML for example, just as if you had written it yourself. You can edit it if you want to, or write the XML from scratch and open it up in Glade if you want to fix something visually.
Have you ever had a job where you had to maintain a GTK-based app developed with Glade for more than a couple years?
I'm guessing not. Severe bugs, missing features, crashes -- those aren't the worst parts of Glade. No, the nastiest part is that Glade versions are strongly tied to GTK versions. Want to use Glade version x.y with GTK version n.m? You're fucked.
It's hardly Snowden's fault that his fellow employees were too stupid to follow basic computer security procedures, like not entering their passwords on untrusted systems.
If these are the kinds of people who work for the NSA, wouldn't you want them kicked out of their jobs ASAP?
I don't know, but I'm sure if I read the free eBook that the article is advertising I'd become a management expert literally overnight. !!! DOWNLOAD NOW !!!
Google's motto should be "We don't care about design, and it shows!"
Think about it -- for $n/year, USPS would filter out your junk mail for you. People would pay for this.
BitTorrent Sync is great, unless you really need cloud storage.

How many of those 2.5 million laptops still work? Most of the OLPC laptops I saw at trade shows were broken.
But I was told that manipulating currencies was always bad, and that Bitcoin was completely different than The Dreaded Fed (TM)!

Poor Larry would be living in a cardboard box on the sidewalk in a week if Oracle had to issue a refund every time they failed to meet a delivery.

In that case it sounds like the baker is operating a church, not a business.

You mean like driving?

Except it was built for the World's Fair and intended to be re-purposed as an airport. The Navy base idea came later.
But hey, no reason to let facts get in the way of your knee-jerk response, right?

...if only there was some process we could use by which we could affect change in our government.

Snowden worked for the NSA indirectly. He wasn't an NSA employee.
Snowden's system was not an NSA-owned computer.
