    I work in the school systems..I'm exposed on a grand scale daily ;)
    but yes indirectly benefited by those who have received which 1/2 of the teachers do, doubtful many of the students do.

    IT shouldn't give a damn about a .NET programming IDE for example...
    and Vista...you can bet your sweet @$$ IT folk are NOT putting that in their top 10 list!

    I don't even know why this is "news"...
    back in 1989 you got credit for hours logged on simulators for private pilot licenses...
    who knows how long before that you were REQUIRED to learn in Sims for commercial pilots..

    Quite frankly it's been very solid for me at the server level. Thanks to a bunch of other folk's hard work.
    NT's 64 bit code for the old DEC Alpha's was much better than XP-64 IMO...
    But I have yet to be putting this onto a desktop...the 32-bit is plenty fast enough for desktops, and for MY and my customer's usages...64-bit OS is overkill...

    yeah very different when using computer to computer...than computer to land-line...

    computer to computer we(wife and I) use weekly to talk to her family in Brasil...and it works better than the landline to be honest..WITH video...

    My complaint was when using the 'dial' feature to call a land line 6hrs drive north of me.

    and have used in some capacity (I was VERY young when I first encoutnered it) every version of Windows, even prior to the GUI. Interesting...GUI's existed even before WINDOWS...and EVERY VERSION OF WINDOWS by function IS a GUI...
    so how you used in ANY capacity ANY version of Windows prior to the GUI I don't understand.

    they do a DECENT job...and $30 is a FAIR price...
    I called Vancouver, B.C. Canada from Portland, OR and it was all but horrible..using Comcast Cable or Qwest DSL ... both sucked wind and echo was fairly constant.

    they are called your USERS...the technological immigrant users...usually above age 35 or so...(more often than not female *sorry ladies* but y'all like to click on froo-froo stuff)
    and ignorant to the ploys of how people get your address to start the spam-hose

    I get a call from XYZ user...she says, OH I just got a notification that I won a TV!!!
    my head hangs low and I grunt the groan of despair...

    then I CALMLY explain that no TV will arrive..ever..that she should NEVER click on ANYTHING offering something for free
    and that she should notify me when her inbox becomes overloaded with spam..
    during which time she is to under NO circumstances click on ANY of those e-mails but delete directly.
    they after allowing her to learn from her errors we solve the problem.

    there may be a general market for a cheap, robust laptop without hard drive or optical storage. Schools would die for laptops that cost 100 bucks and would simply run what the sys admins put on the flash image and ONLY what they put there.

    the government? blah...

    squidguard and dansguardian and a few others have blacklists...
    simple to install and use...can even get 'ipcop' and load the plugin for it...single disk nearly automagical install...

    MANY schools use this...and it blocks a LOT of GREAT content...because A&P classes NEED to research the human anatomy...
    words like penis, vagina, breasts...BLOCKED DENIED inappropriate words
    Health and Biology try looking up sexually transmitted diseases...BLOCKED DENIED inappropriate words
    history, abuses of prisoners in concentration camps...BLOCKED DENIED violent material

    and that has absolutely NOTHING to do with IMAGES on those pages...

    as I've demonstrated MANY times... create a site...name your images something like 'heavenlyangel001.jpg' have no illicit text..and it will get through EVERY FILTER if not explicitly on a blacklist...
    oh then there are the bazillion of URL-proxy's out there...enjoy blocking all of those
