Blech. You've effectively banned me from slashdot by being such a rabid bag of dicks. I'm deleting my account and wont show up here ever again. Have fun stroking your ego, while you're at it you should try suicide. "The world would be a better place" See you never, asshole. Make sure you never mentally surpass age 12, otherwise you might not be such a dick head.

There are some people that don't actually know everything about everything and that seems to really piss these old codgers off. Oh well.

How is using blu ray cheaper than hard drives? Not only is it slower, but the medium + the hardware to burn them + the robotic retrieval system..
Seems like there could be an easier solution to this: hard drives in racks. No robots, no optical drives, and no blu ray discs.
One 500gb hard drive already has 10x the amount of storage as a dual layer bluray. In fact, a 10 pack of dual layer blu ray discs on amazon costs twice as much as a 500gb 3.5" drive. Am I missing something?

This is simply not true. White kids do not wind up with felony records for riding bicycles through a neighbor's back yard. White people can get away with so much more than black people that it's ridiculous.

    >

I live in a small, 99.99% white town in upstate NY. Every truck I see up here has a confederate flag on it and some bumper stickers suggesting that if would enjoy universal healthcare that I should move to Russia with the other pinko bastards.
A good friend of mine (white) recently spent some time in jail for resisting arrest. He apparently broke some law by riding his bike, and had no idea why the town cop was detaining him, so he asked "what did I do wrong?" and as he was attempting to dismount his bicycle, the officer took him down to the ground and in the process broke his thumb and index finger, and cuffed him. (this was all captured on the cops dash cam/microphone, and unfortunately the public defender was at least as smart as a glass of ice water) The cop sustained a minor injury to his face when it smacked into the bike. That was all the evidence needed to throw my buddy in jail. Cop had a cut on his eyebrow. My friend is now a criminal with a record. The officer has since been fired for something unrelated albeit exquisitely poetic.

There are some really awful people in the world. Some of them happen to get jobs as police.

It must have been fun and I'm sure the students learned a thing or two, but this model uses physical roller bearings, instead of air pressure. So there is one problem with the model straight away. The second is they built it into an oval shape, which is another challenge the hyperloop faces: how to negotiate deceleration through a sharp corner, yet still maintain a high rate of speed to make this a viable mode of transit. I understand these design flaws are limitations imposed by the scale of the model, but really if you can't model something properly, then your experiments within this model will yield unusable data. Still, it was probably a fun project no less.
