    2) On the argument someone said that its just another reason to seperate church and state: Why? Do you want all atheists in power? Oh wait, atheism IS a religion in a sense. The point is, there is no such thing as seperation of church and state.

    3) on the comment about airstrikes not working: Of course they will not work. Everyone knows that. We will HAVE to send ground troops in, but I sure as hell don't want any ground troops w/o air support.

    4) about civilians: A modern war is fought with civilians. It is much easier to kill unarmed civilians that armed troops. Once you kill/threaten the family, the troop does not function. to the real point of this post: Bigger + louder is better in some cases. The WBK38 heatsink+fan on my 1.2 Thunderbird runs at close to 60 DB. Why did I get it: its cheaper and works better than others. With this heatsink, I have my processor overclocked to 1.4 with only a 2C increase in temp. I can also run my rig with only a single 80mm fan. This saves me at least $35 alone.

    1) The first was an attempt by one of their users to hack into my computer. I had logs of him doing it, a confession via IRC, and other data. I call up @Home directly, and what do they say? They said "send a report to abuse@home.com." Ok, so I have one of their customers trying to gain access to my pc WHILE I WAS TALKING and they won't do jackl about it.

    2) I tried reporting some person from IRC that was continually advertising kiddie porn. I traced his IP back to @Home. I sent IRC logs of everything to abuse@Home. They e-mail me back 5 days later saying that I need to provide the E-MAIL headers. This is after I already explained where the info came from. I sent that back to them explaining. They sent another e-mail saying the same ting which I responded to. That was in April and as far as I know, nothing happened cause its still happening.

So people expect that @Home's threat will ever pan out..yeah right!

I saw this movie on Friday when it came out. I have to disagree about the author's opinions on the acting. I believe the acting was superb, but the plot sucked. Not only was the first hour and a half somewhat boring (some of us were joking about using our lighters on the screen if we had to put up with much more), it also had no historical significance. The name of the movie is Pearl Harbor, not Lets Watch Ben Afleck Make Out With His GF. Therefore, I have to say I WOULD see the movie again, but walk in an hour and a half through it. Last, What was up with the Doolittle raid part added? We were allw aiting for it to end, and then bam, another 45 minutes!

  21. Why it sux on Tech Support: Sucking Even More · · Score: 1

    First reason:
Too many companies (the ones that are doing in-house tech support) believe that once you buy the hardware, you can skimp on the people to support it. I see there being two reasons why people walk aweay from tech support with a bad impression. 1) The tech dude is incompetent (not entirelly uncommon) or not qualified for the position or to answer the question. 2) The tech guy has too much to work on and therefore he/she does not have either the time or the patience to solve the problem.

    Second Reason:

    The tech people themselves.
I work with some of the people in my school's tech dept (and yes, they skimp there big time)(and yes, I am in High School). After dealing with two cases of "its not working" and needing only to plug it in, one case of a bad battery on an older mac, being chewed out by an administrator for not carrying around a pass everywhere (won't go there), and finally being sucked into the room of a teacher that LITERALLY needs help finding the power button, I am exhausted. How does this relate? Well, if at this time someone has a simple problem that has to deal with crappy programming by M$ (aren't we shocked), I am too exhausted to really do anything. I get away from it as fast as possible. This is how many phone-support people deal with it. They either move you to a different operator or give you a response that makes you call back another time. Therefore, I have to say that most tech support people are either overworked or not born with enough patience to handle it.

Last, I ave to say this. Think of how many problems are caused by the companies/tech support themselves? For instance, people's printers and pc's suddenly drop of the network andomly. Why? Because the tech people for some unknown reason remove their connection from the servers switches! Second example: If you have ever had to deal with your ISP, how many times it is because THEIR servers are messed up, and yes they try and say its your fault?

Anywayz, this is the LONGEST /. message I have ever posted and those poor sould that are still is HS have some homework to do.

There are two reasons for this. The first is machine imaging. The second and the biggest problem is the number of people that havwe been in charge. They got rid of the last guy who knew a hell of a lot more than anyone else and ran the place perfectly (one guy, 600 computers). They now have 2 people that work on them but everyone puts stuff different places.

I think if/when we are audited, the district would be running to CompUSA and buying 400 copies of the OS.

I have not done a lot of research into all of them, but I can tell you this. All the ones I have heard of have been caused by one thing alone, the other kids at the schools.

Lets take a look at one of the San Diego shootings. This is a classic case of a teenager that has been picked on his entire life. One day he gets sick of it. He goes to school to end his problems.

I know your thinking that violence would not solve his problems. I can tell you this from personal experience, after YEARS of being picked on, ANYTHING to make it stop is the answer.

Seeing how I am writing this from my school, I will say now that I would absoluteley NEVER do this.

Anyway, to make this relate to the V-Chip thing, I personally think it is a good idea. I am a teenager and have watched every type of disgusting television there is.
