patchset currently offers better stability and performance than the mainline 2.6.0-test kernel
So if these stability and performance patches are so great as the article says, why aren't they in the main kernel already? Does Linus just not like them??
I've watched enough CSI to know that they could figure out that the two different DNA's were similar enough to do a little more snooping. I imagine it would look at first like it was a close relative.
The one thing about movie piracy is that it is not very easy to reproduce the whole theater experience. Downloading music and burning it to CD is just as good as buying the original (minus some album art) but downloading a movie just gives you a pixilated file to watch on a 17 inch monitor. Granted some people get high quality rips and burn then to DVD, but not all of us have DVD burners. I imagine some people also hook they computers up to a tv or home theater.. not most of us either. So the way I see it, a night at the movies always has the upper hand.
Well they aren't really in the park anymore. They moved into Lucent's old home on CentennialCampus at NC State. That is in the middle of Raleigh. Trivial though...
Doesn't no Pine == no Pico?? What am I going to do without Pico??? I don't want to learn the power of vi!! I guess it will just take me a little longer to get up and running next clean install.
InstallAnywhere has worked pretty well for us. We are using the old version 4.5, standard edition. They are up to 5.5 now I think. If we weren't distributing a Java application I am not sure how worth it IA is though. You have the overhead of a JRE in the installer. They do have a free version BTW. It is called Now!.
The other thing is Linux users like to just untar their stuff and run it. Installers can be a waste of time. The thing is, it is better to waste the time of a few savy people than to make it difficult for others to get going if you have a non server application.
Wouldn't introducing these coins change the result

Forgive me if this is in the article, I was too lazy to read it, but wouldn't altering the coin denominations then alter the change given distributions? Is he only assuming that things are paid for with whole dollars/euros/etc??
Peachtree is awful! I must get junk mail from them at least once a week and spam from them once a month. This is all a result of me registering as required to use their software. The interface is equally awful. When you find a better solution then Quickbooks or Peachtree let me know too!
I have had my Visor for about a year and a half. I keep all my normal schedule, meetings, stuff I need to do, homework dates, test dates, holidays, birthdays, etc in it. Teamed with Outlook Today I forget very little of all the stuff going on in my life. I find it most helpful with reminding me of things that are due in a few days that I would not notice until the day of if it were not for my Visor. I also find it handy to have all my contacts information in there on those rare times when I do need to know someone's number.
Sure they can. But do they want to deal with the hassles of setting up their Jabber system. It is certainly not the easiest thing to do. One of our larger customers even tried Jabber before our system. They had all sorts of problems all across the boards!
And that is exactly what we wrote... an internal business instant messaging system. A lot of people have posted thinking that I was talking about just another application to access public IM systems. We have a client, server, and administration tool (all three run on Linux and Windows) that make up the entire system. There is a definite business case for our product as some of your examples outlined. Windows only businesses buy it so why wouldn't Windows/Linux or Linux only businesses buy it? There is an even stronger case for a system that can internally connect your employees on different platforms.
We already have a gasoline infastructure in place. It would cost more money (and time like you said) then I can imagine to change all the gas stations into Hydrogen stations. Hydrogen fuel would be pretty sweet though!
That is a good point about online classes. I go to NC State and we also have great in dorm connections (up to 600kb/s). We do have many classes offered online. I have not taken any but several of my classes dealt with being connected a lot. Twice in my English class we just had chat room discussions and wrote on a bulletin board. I really enjoyed getting out of the shower and then being on time for class, still in my towel. Most classes also have the Syllabus online. We also have something called WebAssign which is an electronic means for doing homework. Many other parts of classes are integrated into net use. I think it is great. It really helps me to do something I do not enjoy via a tool that I cherish, and that is my computer.
I don't see how you could call Win98 4.1. It is consideraly different then 95. It is more stable, handles much more hardware, and just is basically a better OS. Incorporating IE4 (or IE5 for 2nd edition) did make a big differene in the OS also. Granted, I would not call 98 it a major release. But give it a little more credit then that.. 4.5 or more I'd say.
I have read the article, posts and re-read every thing I saw but I still have no clue what launguage Perl 5 is written in. Can someone help me out here please.

NC State shut down their incoming email servers for a few hours due to all the email worms. http://sysnews.ncsu.edu/news/3f426a4b

I didn't want to take full advantage of their site anyway. I just wanted to read their pitch. I guess Firebird is unworthy for viewing it.

Hear and watch the story Woz's life from the man himself. He spoke at NC State University on April 26, 2003. http://www.ncsu.edu/it/multimedia/woz.html

So what is the significance of the numbers 80 101 110 116 105 117 109 to Intel??
