Is this the same Greece that has been on the precipice of economic disaster for last five years?
Yes, the same Greece - where the most expensive phones is the norm.
I think BlackBerry is currently more viable than Greece.
I am happy about that - BlackBerry is founded by a Greek, so you can't insult a nationalist like me!
And BlackBerry was once huge in Europe, India, and Africa.
BlackBerry was never "huge" in Europe (exluding U.K. as a fellow Slashdoter noted), and surely not in Africa - you link to an article that starts as: "The use of BlackBerry phones in Africa is expected to rise to 16 per cent from 6 per cent penetration for current and previous users. Mobile Africa 2015 surveyed mobile phone users in five of Africa’s major markets, namely South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Uganda."
I don't know about the rest of Europe, but BlackBerries were pretty big here in the UK, both with business users and kids who liked them for texting.
I wrote "Europe"... not "U.K."!
Sorry about that... it's not "funny" - it is true that BlackBerries were successful in U.K., but as a British (that i guess you are) you must admit that North-America and U.K. are almost the same in terms of marketing (don't feel bad: North-America is Great Britain, you just have to get rid of those rebels - Yankees will hate me now...)
That's because only a tiny bit of consumers are even aware blackberry still exists, and most of those who are aware have written them off.
I think most consumers (other than those from North-America) were never aware of BlackBerry existing.
Take for example Greece (yes... i am Greek!): the founder of BlackBerry, Mike Lazaridis, is a *Greek*-Canadian who could had his phones in every Greek's hands by just saying "Greeks are not barbarians..." (or something like that, you get my point!), yet almost no Greek (AND/OR EUROPEAN) knows what a BlackBerry is, even if he (Greek/European) knows and uses the latest and most expensive phones.
What was/is the marketing of BlackBerry outside North-America? O.K., i understand that advertising a BlackBerry using the "Greek" and "barbarian" words are not the best idea, so they could just use this: "BlackBerry... it exists!" - but no, they didn't do even that...
No fucking way i would ever use this Vacuum shit... it sounds like a very dangerous chemical.
I'm pretty sure they're why they banned incandescent bulbs.
That was an overreaction - o.k., i don't want Vacuum in my food, but for incandescent bulbs they could just add a "contains Vacuum" warning.
And yet, they are trying to get you to eat food which has been vacuum sealed.
You are so right - i think it's some kind of a conspiracy... you know, they try to solve this overpopulation thing... but i am not a victim, i always avoid anything Vacuum sealed, and try to warn people: they're out to get us...
I will keep mentioning that i am from Greece (especially when i discuss something that is about USA and my Greek nationality effects my information and/or understanding about the issue), but i respect that you critisizing me directly and using with you Slashdot account!
I understand what you say, and i may agree with you, but at least in Greece (and most of Europe), at least blood donation is done to public healh blood banks.
Keep doing that good (donating blood), keep yourself modest (feeling that it's not good enough), and let karma (the real one, not Slashdot's!) do its thing!
That's great - you help yourself and you help others. By the way, many people (without your condition) believe that donating blood once in a while is good for the health (i think it is an un-scientific claim, but as a blood donor i don't mind believing it!).
yeah it's bogus, i mean if there were any merit to that line of thought, you would have seen something absurd like MS bailing out Apple when they were in dire straights.
Or Intel doing the same with AMD by "buying" a minority share - i thing you are right!
I may say something very stupid here but i think ARM is a British company that just licence to manufacturers, so it may not count as a competitor to Intel for the anti-monopoly legislation.
I did not wrote that it is illegal to be a monopoly (it would be illogical), but "problematic" (of course i bet it's better than having to compete!) - i understand that both in USA and in Europe (i am from Greece) "you have all the eyes looking at you" (i.e., frequent checks about you business practices, e.g., "cost proofs" forms) by law.
Do you realize that Epidemiology (i.e., as the "medical statistics" science) concluded that homosexuals (like other groups, e,g., heroin addicts) are a risk? Blood *donation* is not a "gay rights" issue!
There is no evidence whatsoever that Xilinx will buy AMD. It's just some random idiot's speculation.
Before this it was Samsung will buy AMD, the Chinese will buy AMD, Intel will buy AMD, etc.
I don't know the situation, but i had read in some/. comment few month ago something interesting: Intel needs AMD (or some other competitor) to exist independently because otherwise Intel will become a legaly defined monopoly, with all the problems that creates to a company.
I am sure that there is not any *for profit* money exchange in this blood donation operation, plus, even if blood banks existed as for profit businesses you should think about *donating* blood.
Not everyone who is able to give blood can give blood. Gay people cannot give blood but some cracked out homeless can. Those are the rules.
I am sure you understand that there is a good reason why homosexuals are considered not able to donate blood (in most cases): AIDS and other diseases, that epidemiologically make heroin addicts, or heterosexuals with frequent "one night stands", not able also.

So how long before it shows up on a porn site?
Just read some /. comments...and...!
rolling out systems to "pre-identify" shoplifters
// if (CustomerColor != WHITE) {ShopliftingAlert == TRUE} // XXX: uncomment *ONLY* for demo!

My copy is too old to cover rvalue references and initializer lists, I'm afraid.
Thank God - C++11 is blasphemous!
"I have some of that right here for you.....yes sir, I call it Vacuum."
So long as it's not GMO, I'll gladly breathe it.
What if it has been contaminated with GMO Vacuum? No Sir, play it safe and avoid all Vacuum!
No fucking way i would ever use this Vacuum shit... it sounds like a very dangerous chemical.

Ha! Yes, keep donating blood - if not for any other reason, this braunschweiger worth the trouble!
I'm sure you don't realize what you said isn't true
No i don't - will you help me?

I am not in weather/climate research and i don't know any other dataset with compiled historic raw data for the globe, so that is great news!

Oh... then we should make sure they are free of any chemicals.
I have some of that right here for you.....yes sir, I call it Vacuum.

Will someone shoot this fucking clown?
Would you donate some blood to help me while i will bleed?
