what does english have to do with it? You deserve your job because you are qualified for it.

My only real issue with out sourcing is that we (stupid americans) run our cost of living through the roof, house values, college costs, etc... and then companies decide that they would rather have the high society lifestyle but have workers (equally quallified) from much lower cost of living countries. Since house prices generally will not plummet and colleges generally will not lower the cost of tuition it in effect lowers the standard of living of americans....granted I don't see the doom and gloom scenario in the near future.

However everyone should realize that life comes with no gaurentees. None of us is owed a job.

You get tighter control on closed source, but you get a hell of a lot more eyes on open source. I agree that saying something is totally secure is laughable. And I agree that it is possible for back doors to survive for a while in an open source project. However at least with open source you CAN check it your self.

Also it is pretty tough to conceal a backdoor in a project like the kernel or mozilla. However for all the small open source projects out there that only have a couple of developers?? you bet your ass they could hide a backdoor early on in a project and it could survive until the project matured....but then you would know who did it.

I believe that when security is imperative open source will always win out. If we ever switch to e-voting would you trust a closed source application? I sure as hell wouldn't.

    Thanks for the insightful post.

After having talked with my girlfriend...she would add that we need to do something about this long before election time. We need to get people thinking outside of this damned two party box long before we "waste" our votes on a man that can't win. Perhaps you are right...the best way is to slowly build up a larger and larger percentage each year until we finally make a statement. You have certainly given me a different way to look at this election. It may not change what I do...but I will think much more about it.

    Thanks.
