show me a soccer mom who has never seen windoze
and msoffice before pick them up and be any
more productive in *less time* than the
    linux/staroffice combo.

while /.ers may whine about how slow staroffice
starts up or missing features or whatever,
completely innocent soccer moms wouldn't care
    about those aspects.

how soon can she get that resume written and printed?
i dont believe windows is easier/faster for those
    who've never seen it before.

and it most certainly is more expensive.

i was under the impression apache can be run

i'll just sit back and assume the microsoft
    server numbers
are even lower than presented :)

    woohoo! :)

    don't opt-out.

egghead goes ahead and sells that info to Fryes...

i wonder if Fryes has any idea of the *quality*

i kinda like this possibility :)

any abuse/misue of the net leads to
tracing back to the guilty IP#. doesn't this
put the home connection at risk to some stranger
either willfully, or through stupidity, causing
the wireline service provider to pull the plug?

everything else on the net i've ever seen has
been abused pretty badly so far...

i myself have only *one* choice in broadband

i run a fairly major email digest. it goes out as plain text, no attachments, no mime headers. good old fashioned text email.

so... i have a poor subscriber at dnv.com that doesnt get digests on a regular basis because their lame virus scanner rejects it with a message back to me saying:

"A message with the subject XXX dates DDD was found containing a virus by the DNV Gateway Scanner. Please update your virus scanner and disinfect the message before resending."

uh... text message? no attachment... a virus?
and i dont use a virus scanner on my linux thankyou very much.

on the offchance their lame assed filter ever catches a real one, couldnt they also at least say which virus it THINKS it detected? eesh.
