    Exactly. Maybe the creator makes universes every day and just tosses them in a sock drawer. There are infinite possible scenarios which means a Catholic world-view is infinitely unlikely.

    Only if you want to be abstract. I can create a Big Bang and then be "God" of that universe. But I wouldn't exist in the same space-time and I certainly wouldn't be impregnating a woman from a particular planet 14B years later or answering prayers. These are things that Catholics are required to believe.

    The head of the Vatican Observatory, Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno, says Lemaitre's research proves that you can believe in God and the big-bang theory.

    It sounds like Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno is experiencing some cognitive dissonance. He has to believe in God to keep his job, but he has to also believe in the Big Bang theory to be a real astronomer.

    I imagine it's a pretty sweet gig, but there are other jobs out there.

    Trump doesn't fire people for being incompetent. He fires people for being disloyal. Hell, being incompetent is practically a job requirement in his administration.

    Well, to be fair, it's not "people's" opinion on Net Neutrality, it's John Oliver viewer's opinion on Net Neutrality. Trump supporters are against regulations, even ones that protect them.

    To be fair, nobody knew how corrupt or incompetent Trump's presidency would be before he took office. That came as a surprise (who knew?) - I see Trump voters as victims of false advertising.

    If the homophobia complaints were coming from gays, then there would be something to it. The fact that it's coming from Trump supporters shows that it's insincere. You can't be outraged on behalf of another group when that group doesn't care, and especially when that group is one that your side goes out of it's way to marginalize.

  19. I don't make the rules, but I actually support your right to not rent to minorities - as long as you self-label as a discriminatory renter. After all, it wouldn't be fair for progressive renters to support your odious policy unknowingly.

    But Florida is a swing state, and it would be a political disaster to drill there.

    I don't know if that's true. Miami-Dade and anything south is overwhelmingly blue. Drilling south of Miami or the keys won't change any hearts or minds.

  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe criminality is more closely correlated to socio-economic forces than race. When you adjust for income your argument completely falls apart, and that's precisely what what we're doing when we sell or rent a commodity at a certain price/rate.
